َى مُرَادٍ فَقَالَ صَالِحُ بْنُ شَقِيقٍ وَ كَانَ مِنْ رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا حُكْمَ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ وَ لَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ*
ثُمَّ مَرَّ عَلَى رَايَاتِ بَنِي رَاسِبٍ فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا لَا حُكْمَ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ لَا نَرْضَى وَ لَا نُحَكِّمُ الرِّجَالَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ مَرَّ عَلَى رَايَاتِ تَمِيمٍ فَقَارَأَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ لَا حُكْمَ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ يَقْضِي بِالْحَقِ … وَ هُوَ خَيْرُ الْفاصِلِينَ [ثُمَ] شَدَّ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ بِسَيْفِهِ
فَرَجَعَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ ع فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا جَرَى فَقَالَ ع هَلْ هِيَ غَيْرُ رَايَةٍ أَوْ رَايَتَيْنِ أَوْ نَبْذٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَدَعْهُمْ فَظَنَّ ع أَنَّهُمْ قَلِيلُونَ فَمَا رَاعَهُ إِلَّا نِدَاءُ النَّاسِ مِنْ كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ لَا حُكْمَ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ الْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ يَا عَلِيُّ لَا لَكَ لَا نَرْضَى بِأَنْ نُحَكِّمَ الرِّجَالَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَمْضَى حُكْمَهُ فِي مُعَاوِيَةَ وَ أَصْحَابِهِ أَنْ يُقْتَلُوا أَوْ يَدْخُلُوا تَحْتَ حُكْمِنَا عَلَيْهِمْ
وَ قَدْ كُنَّا زَلَلْنَا حِينَ رَضِينَا بِالْحَكَمَيْنِ وَ قَدْ بَانَ لَنَا زَلَلُنَا وَ خَطَؤُنَا فَرَجَعْنَا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ تُبْنَا فَارْجِعْ أَنْتَ يَا عَلِيُّ كَمَا رَجَعْنَا وَ تُبْ إِلَى اللَّهِ كَمَا تُبْنَا وَ إِلَّا بَرِئْنَا مِنْكَ
فَقَالَ ع وَيْحَكُمْ أَ بَعْدَ الرِّضَا وَ الْمِيثَاقِ وَ الْعَهْدِ نَرْجِعُ أَ لَيْسَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى قَدْ قَالَ أَوْفُوا بِالْعُقُودِ المائدة وَ قَالَ أَوْفُوا بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ إِذا عاهَدْتُمْ وَ لا تَنْقُضُوا الْأَيْمانَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيدِها وَ قَدْ جَعَلْتُمُ اللَّهَ عَلَيْكُمْ كَفِيلًا النحل
فَأَبَى أَنْ يَرْجِعَ وَ أَبَتِ الْخَوَارِجُ إِلَّا تَذْلِيلَ التَّحْكِيمِ وَ الطَّعْنَ فِيهِ فَبَرِئُوا مِنْ عَلِيٍّ وَ بَرِئَ مِنْهُمْ عَلِيٌّ.

We are neither please nor the judgment of men in the religion of Allah-azwj’. Then he passed by the flags of Tameem and read it to them. A man from them said, ‘There is no judgment except for Allah-azwj. He-azwj Judges with the truth, and He-azwj is best of the judges’. Then a man was severe to him with his sword. He returned to Ali-asws and informed him-asws with what had flowed. He-asws said: ‘Is it another flag or two flags, or a renouncement from the people? ’ He said, ‘No’. He-asws said: ‘Leave them’. He-asws thought they were a few, so he-asws did not care of it except the people called out from every corner, ‘There is no judgment except for Allah-azwj! The judgment is for Allah-azwj, O Ali-asws, not for you-asws! We are not pleased with being judged by men in the religion of Allah-azwj. Allah-azwj has Decreed His-azwj Judgment regarding Muawiya and his companions that either they be killed or they enter to be beneath our rule upon them. And we had erred when we had agreed with the two judges and it has become clear to us that we have erred and were mistaken, so we returned to Allah-azwj and we have repented, therefore you (should also) return, O Ali-asws, just as we have returned, and repent to Allah-azwj just as we have repented, or else we shall disavow from you-asws’. He-asws said: ‘Woe be unto you all! Is it after the agreement, and the covenant, and the pact we should return? Isn’t it so Allah-azwj the Exalted has Said: O you who believe! Fulfil the agreements. [5: 1] (Surah) Al-Maidah. And He-azwj Said: ‘And fulfil the Covenant of Allah when you were Covenanted and do not be breaking the oaths after its affirmation, and you have already made Allah as a surety upon you. [16: 91] (Surah) Al-Nahl’. Therefore, he-asws refused to retract and the Khawarijites refused except to disgrace the arbitration, and the contesting regarding it. So, they disavowed from Ali-asws and Ali-asws disavowed from them’’. [65]
