sws so desire’. The Prophet-saww place the garment of Al-Hassan-asws in the tray and Jibraeel went on to pour the water. Then the Prophet-saww turned towards Al-Hassan-asws and said to him-asws: ‘O delight of my-saww eyes! Which colour do you-asws want for your garment? ’ He-asws said: ‘I-asws want it to be green’. The Prophet-as rubbed it with his-saww hand in that water, and by the Power of Allah-azwj, it took the green colour, excellently like the emerald. The Prophet-saww took it out and gave it to Al-Hassan-asws, and he-as wore it. Then he-saww placed the garment of Al-Husayn-asws in the tray, and Jibraeel-as took to pouring the water. The Prophet-saww turned towards Al-Husayn-asws, and for him-asws were five years from his-asws age, and said to him-asws: ‘O delight of my-saww eyes! Which colour do you-asws want for your-asws garment? ’ Al-Husayn-asws said: ‘I-asws want it to be red’. The Prophet-saww rubbed it in that water and it became red like the red ruby. Al-Husayn-asws wore it. The Prophet-saww was cheered with that, and Al-Hassan-asws and Al-Husayn-asws headed to their-asws mother-asws, happy, cheerful. Jibraeel-as cried due to what he-as had witnessed of that situation. The Prophet-saww said: ‘O my-saww brother-as Jibraeel-as! You-as are crying in a day like this in which my-saww two sons-asws are happy, and you-as are grieving? By Allah-azwj upon you-as, only tell me-saww! ’
Jibraeel-as said: ‘Know, O Rasool-Allah-saww! Allah-azwj Gave the choice to your-saww two sons-asws upon the different colours. Thus, it is inevitable for Al-Hassan-asws that he-asws be quenched the poison, and his-asws colour of his-asws body would turn green; and it is inevitable for Al-Husayn-asws that he-asws be killed and slaughtered, and his-asws body be dyed from his-asws blood’. The Prophet-saww cried and his-saww grief increased due to that’’. [244]
