لِئَتْ عَيْنِي مِنْهُ لَأَقْتُلَنَّهُ
وَ جَاءَ الْأَحْنَفُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَلِيّاً ع فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنَّكَ قَدْ رُمِيتَ بِحَجَرِ الْأَرْضِ وَ مَنْ حَارَبَ اللَّهَ وَ رَسُولَهُ أَنْفَ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ إِنِّي قَدْ عَجَمْتُ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ يَعْنِي أَبَا مُوسَى وَ حَلَبْتُ أَشْطُرَهُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ كَلِيلَ الشَّفْرَةِ قَرِيبَ الْقَعْرِ كَلِيلَ الْمُدْيَةِ
وَ إِنَّهُ لَا يَصْلَحُ لِهَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمِ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ يَدْنُو مِنْهُمْ حَتَّى يَكُونَ فِي أَكُفِّهِمْ وَ يَتَبَاعَدُ مِنْهُمْ حَتَّى يَكُونَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ النَّجْمِ مِنْهُمْ فَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي حَكَماً فَاجْعَلْنِي وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي ثَانِياً أَوْ ثَالِثاً فَإِنَّ عَمْراً لَا يَعْقِدُ عُقْدَةً إِلَّا عَقَدْتُ لَكَ أَشَدَّ مِنْهَا
فَعَرَضَ عَلِيٌّ ع ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَأَبَوْهُ وَ قَالُوا لَا يَكُونُ إِلَّا أَبُو مُوسَى فَبَعَثَ أَيْمَنَ بْنَ خُرَيْمٍ الْأَسَدِيَ وَ كَانَ مُعْتَزِلًا لِمُعَاوِيَةَ بِأَبْيَاتٍ تَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّ صَلَاحَهُمْ فِي اخْتِيَارِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَ تَرْكِ أَبِي مُوسَى فَطَارَتْ أَهْوَاءُ قَوْمٍ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءِ عَلِيٍّ ع وَ شِيعَتِهِ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَ أَبَتِ الْقُرَّاءُ إِلَّا أَبَا مُوسَى
قَالَ نَصْرٌ فَلَمَّا رَضِيَ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ بِعَمْرٍو وَ أَهْلُ الْعِرَاقِ بِأَبِي مُوسَى أَخَذُوا فِي سَطْرِ كِتَابِ الْمُوَادَعَةِ وَ كَانَتْ صُورَتُهُ هَذَا مَا تَقَاضَى عَلَيْهِ عَلِيٌّ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بِئْسَ الرَّجُلُ أَنَا إِنْ أَقْرَرْتُ أَنَّهُ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ثُمَّ قَاتَلْتُهُ
وَ قَالَ عَمْرٌو لَا بَلْ نَكْتُبُ اسْمَهُ وَ اسْمَ أَبِيهِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ أَمِيرُكُمْ فَأَمَّا أَمِيرُنَا فَلَا
فَلَمَّا أُعِيدَ إِلَيْهِ الْكِتَابُ أَمَرَ بِمَحْوِهِ فَقَالَ الْأَحْنَفُ لَا تَمْحُ اسْمَ إِمْرَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَنْكَ فَإِنِّي أَتَخَوَّفُ إِنْ مَحَوْتَهَا أَنْ لَا تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكَ أَبَداً فَلَا تَمْحُهَا
فَقَالَ عَلِي
ws! Commit me with Amro Bin Al Aas, for by Allah-azwj Who, there is no go apart from Him-azwj, if my eyes are filled up from him, I will kill him’. And Al-Ahnaf Bin Qays came to Ali-asws and said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! You-asws have been thrown a rock of the earth, and one who had fled Allah-azwj and His-azwj Rasool-saww (and) the pride of, and I have examined this man, meaning Abu Musa, and have dissected him and found him being of blunt blade, the blade being near to the bottom, a blunt knife. And he is not correct for these people except a man who is close to them until he happens to be in their palms, and remote from them until he happens to be at the status of the star from them. If you-asws like, you-asws can make me to be a judge, so make me, and if you-asws like then make me a second, or a third, for Amro will not tighten any knot except I shall tighten is more intensely than it for you-asws’. Ali-asws presented that to the people, but they refused him and said, ‘It cannot happen to be except Abu Musa. He-asws sent Ayman Bn Huzeym Al-Asadi, and he was isolated to Muawiya, with some poems pointing upon that their betterment would be in choosing Ibn Abbas and leaving Abu Musa, but the opinions of the people flew from friends of Ali-asws and his-asws Shias, to Ibn Abbas, and the readers refused except Abu Musa. Nasr (the narrator) said, ‘When the people of Syria agreed with Amro and the people of Al-Iraq with Abu Musa, they wrote out the agreement, and its form was: – ‘This is what is charged by Ali-asws Amir Al-Momineen and Muawiya Bin Sufyan’. Muawiya said, ‘I am an evil man if I were to accept he is Amir Al-Momineen, then I fight against him’. And Amro said, ‘No, but we should write his-asws name and name of his-asws father-as. But rather he-asws is your commander. As for our commander, so, no’. When the agreement returned to him-asws he ordered with its deletion. Al-Ahnaf said, ‘Do not delete the name ‘Amir Al-Momineen’, for I fear if you-asws were to delete it, it will not return to you, ever! Do not delete it! ’
