يْرُهُ
فَإِذَا قَامَ إِلَى صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ يَحُطُّ بِيَدِهِ اللِّحَافَ مِنْ وَسَطِهِ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ عَائِشَةَ حَتَّى يَمَسَّ اللِّحَافُ الْفَرْشَ الَّذِي تَحْتَنَا فَأَخَذَتْنِي الْحُمَّى لَيْلَةً فَأَسْهَرَتْنِي فَسَهَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص لِسَهَرِي
فَبَاتَ لَيْلَةً بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ مُصَلَّاهُ يُصَلِّي مَا قُدِّرَ لَهُ ثُمَّ يَأْتِينِي وَ يَسْأَلُنِي وَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيَّ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ ذَلِكَ دَأْبَهُ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ الْغَدَاةَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اشْفِ عَلِيّاً وَ عَافِهِ فَإِنَّهُ أَسْهَرَنِي اللَّيْلَةَ مِمَّا بِهِ
ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص بِمَسْمَعٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ أَبْشِرْ يَا عَلِيُّ قُلْتُ بَشَّرَكَ اللَّهُ بِخَيْرٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَ جَعَلَنِي فِدَاكَ
قَالَ إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْأَلِ اللَّهَ اللَّيْلَةَ شَيْئاً إِلَّا أَعْطَانِيهِ وَ لَمْ أَسْأَلْهُ لِنَفْسِي شَيْئاً إِلَّا سَأَلْتُ لَكَ مِثْلَهُ وَ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُوَاخِيَ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَكَ فَفَعَلَ وَ سَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَكَ وَلِيَّ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ وَ مُؤْمِنَةٍ فَفَعَلَ
فَقَالَ رَجُلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ أَ رَأَيْتَ مَا سَأَلَ فَوَ اللَّهِ لَصَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا سَأَلَ وَ لَوْ كَانَ سَأَلَ رَبَّهُ أَنْ يُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكاً يُعِينُهُ عَلَى عَدُوِّهِ أَوْ يُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنْزاً يَنْفَعُهُ وَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَإِنَّ بِهِمْ حَاجَةً كَانَ خَيْراً مِمَّا سَأَلَ وَ مَا دَعَا عَلِيّاً قَطُّ إِلَى خَيْرٍ إِلَّا اسْتُجِيبَ لَهُ.
ving aside the quilt by his-saww hand from his-saww middle, between me-asws and Ayesha, until the quilt touched the spread which was beneath us. The fever seized me-asws at night and kept me-asws awake, and Rasool-Allah-saww stayed awake to my-asws staying awake. He-saww spent the night between me-asws and the prayer mat, praying Salat whatever had been Determined for him. Then he-saww would come to me-asws and ask me-asws and look at me-asws. That did not cease to be his-saww etiquette until morning. When he-saww had prayed the morning Salat with his-saww companions, he-saww said: ‘O Allah-azwj! Heal Ali-asws and Cure him-asws, for he-asws has kept me-saww awake at night from what is with him-asws’. Then Rasool-Allah-saww said, within the listening of his-saww companions: ‘Receive glad tidings, O Ali-asws! ’ I-asws said: ‘May Allah-azwj Give you-saww glad tidings with goodness, O Rasool-Allah-saww and Make me-asws to be sacrificed for you-asws’. He-saww said: ‘I-saww did not ask Allah-azwj for anything tonight except He-azwj Gave it to me-saww, and I-saww did not ask anything for myself-saww except I-saww asked for you-asws the like of it, and I-asws asked Him-azwj to establish brotherhood between me-saww and you-asws, and He-azwj Did so, and I-saww asked him-asws to Make you-asws a guardian of every Momin and Momina and He-azwj Did so’. There were two men, one of them said to his companion, ‘What is your view of what he-saww asked? By Allah-azwj! A Sa’a (unit of measurement) of dates is better than what he-saww asked his-saww Lord-azwj, and if only he-saww had asked his-saww Lord-azwj to Send down an Angel to support him-saww against his-saww enemies, or Send down a treasure for him-saww, he-saww and his-saww companions would have benefited by it, for there is need with them, it would have been better than what he-saww has asked, and he-saww has not supplicated for Ali-asws at all of any goodness, except it would be Answered for him-saww’’.
