ُ مَنْ أَشَاءُ فَأَنَا وَ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي صَفْوَةُ اللَّهِ وَ خِيَرَتُهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ
ثُمَّ قَالَ سُبْحانَ اللَّهِ وَ تَعالى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ يَعْنِي اللَّهُ مُنَزَّهٌ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ بِهِ كُفَّارُ مَكَّةَ
ثُمَّ قَالَ وَ رَبُّكَ يَعْلَمُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ما تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ مِنْ بُغْضِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَكَ وَ لِأَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ- وَ ما يُعْلِنُونَ مِنَ الْحُبِّ لَكَ وَ لِأَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ. وَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ مَا رَوَاهُ الثَّعْلَبِيُّ فِي تَفْسِيرِهِ وَ رَوَاهُ الْوَاحِدِيُّ فِي أَسْبَابِ النُّزُولِ عَنِ الْبُخَارِيِّ وَ مُسْلِمٍ فِي تَفْسِيرِ قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى يا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا- لا تَتَّخِذُوا عَدُوِّي وَ عَدُوَّكُمْ أَوْلِياءَ تُلْقُونَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِالْمَوَدَّةِ الْآيَةَ وَ فِي رِوَايَتِهِمْ زِيَادَةٌ لِبَعْضٍ عَلَى بَعْضٍ وَ مُخْتَصَرُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّ حَاطِبَ بْنَ أَبِي بَلْتَعَةَ كَتَبَ مَعَ سَارَةَ مَوْلَاةِ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ صَافِي كِتَاباً إِلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ يُخْبِرُهُمْ بِتَوَجُّهِ النَّبِيِّ إِلَيْهِمْ وَ يُحَذِّرُهُمْ مِنْهُ فَعَرَّفَهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع عَنِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى بِذَلِكَ
قَالَ فَبَعَثَ عَلِيّاً وَ عَمَّاراً وَ عُمَرَ وَ الزُّبَيْرَ وَ طَلْحَةَ وَ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ وَ أَبَا مَرْثَدٍ فِي ذَلِكَ وَ عَرَّفَهُمْ مَا عَرَّفَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى بِهِ وَ أَنَّ الْكِتَابَ مَعَ الْجَارِيَةِ سَارَةَ
فَوَجَدُوهَا فِي بَطْنِ خَاخٍ عَلَى مَا وَصَفَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ لَهُمْ فَحَلَفَتْ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مَعَهَا كِتَابٌ فَفَتَّشُوهَا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا مَعَهَا كِتَاباً فَهَمُّوا بِالرُّجُوعِ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ع وَ اللَّهِ مَا كَذَبَنَا وَ سَلَّ سَيْفَهُ وَ قَالَ أَخْرِجِي الْكِتَابَ وَ إِلَّا وَ اللَّهِ لَأُجَرِّدَنَّكِ وَ لَأَضْرِبَنَّ عُنُقَكِ فَلَمَّا رَأَتِ الْجِدَّ أَخْرَجَتِ الْكِتَابَ فَأَخَذَهُ فَأَتَى بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ص.
r the servants that they can choose (an Imam), but I-azwj Choose the one I-azwj so Desire! ” So, I-saww and People-asws of my-saww Household are elites of Allah-azwj, and His-azwj Choice from His-azwj creatures’. Then He-azwj Said: Glorious is Allah and Exalted from what they are associating [28: 68] – meaning Allah-azwj is far above from what the Kafirs of Makkah are associating with Him-azwj. Then He-azwj Said: And your Lord Knows, O Muhammad-saww, what their chests are concealing, from the hatred of the hypocrites for you-asws and for the People-asws of your-saww Household – and what they are manifesting [28: 69] – from the love for you-saww and for the People of your-saww Household’’. [219]
And from that is what is reported by Al Sa’alby in his Tafseer, and it is reported by Al Wahidy in (the book) ‘Asbaab Al Nuzool’, from Al Bukhari and Muslim –
‘In interpretation of Words of the Exalted: O you those who believe! Do not take My enemy and your enemy as friends. Would you meet them with the cordiality [60: 1] – the Verse. And in their reports there is an addition to each other, and the brief of that is that Hatib Bin Abay Baltah wrote a letter with Sarah, a slave girl of Abu Amro Bin Safi to the people of Makkah, informing them with the advancing of the Prophet-saww towards them, and cautioning them from it. Jibraeel-as let him-saww know of that on behalf of Allah-azwj. He said, ‘He-saww sent Ali-asws, and Ammar-ra, and Umar, and Al-Zubeyr, and Talha, and Al-Miqdad Bin Al-Aswad-ra, and Abu Marsad were among that (group), and let them know what Allah-azwj the Exalted had Let him-saww know with it, and that the letter was with the slave girl Sarah. They found her in the interior of Khaaj upon what Rasool-Allah-saww had described to them. She swore there wasn’t any letter with her. They thought of returning. Ali-asws said: ‘By Allah-azwj! We have not been lied to! ’ And he-asws unsheathed his-asws sword and said: ‘Bring out the letter or else, by Allah-azwj, I-asws will cut your hair and strike off your neck! ’ When she saw the determination, she brought out the letter. He-asws took it and came with it to the Prophet-saww’’. [220]
