Hadith 4

(The book) ‘Uyoon Akhbar Al-Reza-asws’ – ‘My father, and Ibn Al Mutawakkal, and Majaylawiya, and Ahmad Bin Ali Bin Ibrahim, and Ibn Natanah, and Al Hamadany, and Al Mukattib, and Al Waraq, altogether from Ali, from his father, from Al Bazanty who said, ‘I said to Abu Ja’far Muhammad Bin Ali-asws Bin Musa-asws, ‘There are a people from your-asws adversaries claiming that your-asws father-asws, but rather Al-Mamoun had named him-asws as ‘Al-Reza’ due to him-asws being pleased for being his heir-apparent’. He-asws said: ‘They are lying, by Allah-azwj, and are corrupting! But Allah-azwj Blessed and Exalted had Named him-asws as ‘Al-Reza’, because he-asws was a Pleasure for Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic in His-azwj sky, and pleasure for His-azwj Rasool-saww and the Imams-asws after him-saww, may the Salawaat of Allah-azwj be upon them-asws, in His-azwj earth’. He (the narrator) said, ‘I said to him-asws, ‘Weren’t each one from your-asws past forefathers-asws a Pleasure for Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic, and for His-azwj Rasool-saww, and the Imams-asws after him-saww? ’ He-asws said: ‘Yes’. I said, ‘Then why is your-asws father-asws named as ‘Al-Reza’ from between them-asws? ’ He-asws said: ‘Because the adversaries from his-asws enemies are pleased with him-asws just as the concurring ones from his-asws friends are pleased with him-asws, and that has not happened to be for any one from his-asws forefathers-asws. So, due to that, he-asws is named as ‘Al-Reza’ from between them’’. [6]
