إِرْشَادُ الْقُلُوبِ لِلدَّيْلَمِيِّ، قَالَ: كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ع يَوْماً فِي حَرْبِ صِفِّينَ مُشْتَغِلًا بِالْحَرْبِ وَ الْقِتَالِ وَ هُوَ مَعَ ذَلِكَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَّيْنِ يُرَاقِبُ الشَّمْسَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا هَذَا الْفِعْلُ
قَالَ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الزَّوَالِ حَتَّى نُصَلِّيَ
فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَ هَلْ هَذَا وَقْتُ صَلَاةٍ إِنَّ عِنْدَنَا لَشُغُلًا بِالْقِتَالِ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ
فَقَالَ ع عَلَى مَا نُقَاتِلُهُمْ إِنَّمَا نُقَاتِلُهُمْ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ
قَالَ وَ لَمْ يَتْرُكْ صَلَاةَ اللَّيْلِ قَطُّ حَتَّى لَيْلَةَ الْهَرِيرِ.
(The book) ‘Irshad al Quloub’ of Al Daylami who said, ‘One day during the battle of Siffeen, Ali-asws was busy with the war and the fighting, and along that he-asws was between the two rows watching the sun. Ibn Abbas said to him-asws, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! What is this deed (you-asws are doing)? ’
He-asws said: ‘I-asws am looking at the decline (midday) so we can pray Salat’. Ibn Abbas said to him-asws, ‘And is this time of Salat and we are too pre-occupied with the fighting from the Salat? ’
He-asws said: ‘Upon what are we fighting? But rather we are fighting upon the Salat! ’
He said, ‘And he-asws did not leave the night Salat at all until ‘Laylat Al-Hareer’’’ (during which fighting continued from the dawn until the late night). [46]
