وَ أَيْضاً وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْهِلَالِيِّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ يَقُولُ كُنْتُ أُحِبُّ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حُبّاً شَدِيداً فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ بَعْدَ وَفَاتِهِ فَلَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَوْصَى عَلِيّاً ع أَنْ لَا يَلِيَ غُسْلَهُ غَيْرُهُ وَ أَنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَرَى عَوْرَتَهُ غَيْرُهُ وَ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يَرَى عَوْرَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص إِلَّا ذَهَبَ بَصَرُهُ
فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ع يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَنْ يُعِينُنِي عَلَى غُسْلِكَ قَالَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع فِي جُنُودٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ
فَكَانَ عَلِيٌّ ع يُغَسِّلُهُ وَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ مَرْبُوطَ الْعَيْنَيْنِ يَصُبُّ الْمَاءَ وَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يُقَلِّبُونَهُ لَهُ كَيْفَ شَاءَ وَ لَقَدْ أَرَادَ عَلِيٌّ ع أَنْ يَنْزِعَ قَمِيصَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَصَاحَ بِهِ صَائِحٌ لَا تَنْزِعْ قَمِيصَ نَبِيِّكَ يَا عَلِيُّ فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ تَحْتَ الْقَمِيصِ فَغَسَّلَهُ
ثُمَّ حَنَّطَهُ وَ كَفَّنَهُ ثُمَّ نَزَعَ الْقَمِيصَ عِنْدَ تَكْفِينِهِ وَ تَحْنِيطِهِ
قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَازِبٍ فَلَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص تَخَوَّفْتُ أَنْ يَتَظَاهَرَ قُرَيْشٌ عَلَى إِخْرَاجِ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ فَلَمَّا صَنَعَ النَّاسُ مَا صَنَعُوا مِنْ بَيْعَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَخَذَنِي مَا يَأْخُذُ الْوَالِهَ الثَّكُولَ مَعَ مَا بِي مِنَ الْحُزْنِ لِوَفَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص
فَجَعَلْتُ أَتَرَدَّدُ وَ أَرْمُقُ وُجُوهَ النَّاسِ وَ قَدْ خَلَا الْهَاشِمِيُّونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص لِغُسْلِهِ وَ تَحْنِيطِهِ وَ قَدْ بَلَغَنِي الَّذِي كَانَ مِنْ قَوْلِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ وَ مَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ مِنْ جُمْلَةِ أَصْحَابِهِ فَلَمْ أَحْفِلْ بِهِمْ وَ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَئُولُ إِلَى شَيْءٍ
فَجَعَلْتُ أَتَرَدَّدُ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ الْمَسْجِدِ وَ أَتَفَقَّدُ وُجُوهَ قُرَيْشٍ وَ كَأَنِّي لَكَذَلِكَ إِذْ فَقَدْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَ عُمَرَ ثُمَّ لَمْ أَلْبَثْ حَتَّى إِذَا أَنَا بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَ عُمَرَ وَ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ قَدْ أَقْبَلُوا فِي أَهْلِ السَّقِيفَةِ وَ هُمْ مُحْتَجِزُونَ بِالْأُزُرِ الصَّنْعَانِيَةِ لَا يَمُرُّ بِهِمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا خَبَطُوهُ ف
And as well I (Majlisi) found in the book of Suleym Bin Qays Al Hilali having heard Al Bara’a Bin Aazib saying, ‘I used to love the Clan of Hashim-asws with intense love during the lifetime of Rasool-Allah-saww and after his-saww expiry. When Rasool-Allah-saww passed away, he-saww had bequeathed to Ali-asws that no one would be in charge of washing him-saww apart from him-asws and it is not befitting for anyone that he sees his-saww private parts apart from him-asws, and it isn’t for anyone to see the private parts of Rasool-Allah-azwj except his sight would be gone. Ali-asws said: ‘O Rasool-Allah-saww! Who will assist me-asws upon washing you-saww? ’ He-saww said: ‘Jibraeel-as among armies of Angels’. So, Ali-asws was washing him-saww, and Al-Fazl Bin A-Abbas was blindfolded of the eyes, pouring the water, and the Angels were turning him-saww for him-asws however he-asws so desired; and Ali-asws had intended to remove the shirt of Rasool-Allah-saww, and he (Jibraeel-as) said (as per Command of Allah-azwj) to him-asws: ‘Do not remove the shirt of your-asws Prophet-saww, O Ali-asws! ’ So, he-asws inserted his-asws hand beneath the shirt and washed him-saww. Then he-asws embalmed him-saww, then removed the shirt during enshrouding him and embalming him-saww. Al-Bara’a Bin Aazib said, ‘When Rasool-Allah-saww passed away, I feared that Quraysh would overcome upon extracting this command from the Clan of Hashim-asws. When the people did what they did, from pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr, there seized me the grief what tends to seize a bereaved mother, along with the grief there was with me due to the expiry of Rasool-Allah-saww. I reluctantly went on to scan the faces of the people, and the Clan of Hashim-asws had isolated with Rasool-Allah-saww for washing him-saww, and embalming him-saww, and it had reached me from the words of Sa’ad Bin Ubada, and the ones who followed him from the totality of his companions. I did not care about them and knew that it will not come to anything. I reluctantly went on to be between them and between the Masjid, and surveyed faces of Quraysh, and it is as if I was like that when I missed Abu Bakr and Umar. Then it was not long before I was with Abu Bakr and Umar and Ubeyda having had come among the people of the shed (Saqeefa), and they were with the manufactured cloth. N
