ُ بِذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ص دَفَعْتُ الْكِتَابَ فَقُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ فَرَأَيْتُ الْغَضَبَ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا مَكَانُ الْعَائِذِ بِكَ بَعَثْتَنِي مَعَ رَجُلٍ وَ أَمَرْتَنِي أَنْ أُطِيعَهُ فَفَعَلْتُ مَا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص لَا تَقَعْ فِي عَلِيٍّ فَإِنَّهُ مِنِّي وَ أَنَا مِنْهُ وَ هُوَ وَلِيُّكُمْ بَعْدِي. وَ مِنْ صَحِيحِ التِّرْمِذِيِّ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ: بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص جَيْشاً وَ اسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَمَشَى فِي السَّرِيَّةِ وَ أَصَابَ جَارِيَةً فَأَنْكَرُوا عَلَيْهِ وَ تَعَاقَدَ أَرْبَعَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَقَالُوا إِذَا لَقِينَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرْنَاهُ بِمَا صَنَعَ عَلِيٌ وَ كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِذَا رَجَعُوا مِنْ سَفَرٍ بَدَءُوا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا إِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ
فَلَمَّا قَدِمَتِ السَّرِيَّةُ سَلَّمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ قَامَ أَحَدُ الْأَرْبَعَةِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَ لَمْ تَرَ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ صَنَعَ كَذَا وَ كَذَا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَقَامَ الثَّانِي فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَقَالَتِهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ الثَّالِثُ فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَقَالَتِهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ الرَّابِعُ فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَا قَالُوا
فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَ الْغَضَبُ يُعْرَفُ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ مَا تُرِيدُونَ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ إِنَّ عَلِيّاً مِنِّي وَ أَنَا مِنْهُ وَ هُوَ وَلِيُّ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي
وَ مِنْ صَحِيحِهِ مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلَاهُ فَعَلِيٌّ مَوْلَاهُ.
o the Prophet-saww, I handed over the letter. It was read out to him-saww, and I saw the anger in the face of Rasool-Allah-saww. I said, ‘O Rasool-Allah-saww! This is a place I take shelter with you-saww. You-saww had sent me with a man and instructed me to obey him, and I did I had been sent with’. Rasool-Allah-saww! Do not fall (complaining) regarding Ali-asws, for he-asws is from me-saww and I-saww am from him-asws, and he-asws is your guardian after me-saww’’. [169]
And from (the book) ‘Saheeh Al Tirmizi’ – From Imran Bin Husayn who said, ‘Rasool-Allah-saww sent an army and utilised Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws (as commander) upon them. He-asws walked among the battalion and attained a girl. They disliked it upon him-asws, and four from the companions of Rasool-Allah-saww made a pact. They said, ‘When we meet Rasool-Allah-saww, we shall inform him-saww with what Ali-asws has done’. It was so that whenever the Muslims returned from a journey, they would begin with Rasool-Allah-saww and greet unto him-saww, then leave to their belongings (homes). When the battalion arrive, they greeted unto Rasool-Allah-saww, and one of the four stood and said, ‘O Rasool-Allah-azwj! Do you-saww not see Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws doing such and such? ’ Rasool-Allah-saww turned away from him. The second one stood up and said similar to his words. He-saww turned away from him. Then the third one stood up and said similar to their words. He-saww turned away from him. Then the fourth stood up and said similar to what they had said. Rasool-Allah-saww faced them and the anger was recognised in his-saww face. He-saww said: ‘What are you intending from Ali-asws? Ali-asws is from me-saww and I-saww am from him-asws, and he-asws is guardian of every Momin from after me-saww’’. And from his (book) ‘Saheeh’: ‘One whose Master I-saww was, so Ali-asws is his Master’’. [170]
