Tafseer Al Ayyashi – From Sayf, from Najm, ‘From Abu Ja’far-asws having said: ‘(Syeda) Fatima-asws gave the responsibility to Ali-asws for housework, and the kneading, and the bread, and sweeping the house, and Ali-asws gave the responsibility to her-asws of whatever was behind the door, he-asws would be bringing the firewood and come with the food. He-asws said to her-asws one day: ‘Is there anything with you-asws (to eat)? ’ She-asws said: ‘By the One-azwj Who Magnified your-asws right! There is nothing with us-asws for three days we-asws can convey to you-asws with it’. He-asws said: ‘Why didn’t you-asws inform me-asws? ’ She-asws said: ‘Rasool-Allah-saww has forbidden me-asws to ask you-asws for anything’. He-asws said: ‘You-asws are not asking the son-asws of your-asws uncle-as when he-asws does come with something, or else you-asws still don’t ask him-asws? ’ He (Abu Ja’far-asws) said, ‘He-asws went out and met a man. He-asws borrowed a Dinar from him, then when he-asws was coming back with it, he-asws met Al-Miqdad Bin Al-Aswad-ra. He-asws said: ‘What brings you-ra out at this time? ’ He-ra said: ‘The hunger, and the One-azwj Who has Magnified your-asws rights, O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! ’
He (the narrator) said, ‘I said to Abu Ja’far-asws, ‘And Rasool-Allah-saww was alive? ’ He-asws said: ‘And Rasool-Allah-saww was alive’. He (Ali-asws) said: ‘And it (hunger) has brought me-asws out (as well), and I-asws have borrowed a Dinar, and I-asws shall prefer you-ra with it’. He-asws handed it to him-ra. He-asws came back and found Rasool-Allah-saww seated and Fatima-asws was praying Salat, and between the two there was something covered. When she-asws was free, she-asws uncovered that thing, and there, it was a pot of bread and meat. He-asws said: ‘O Fatima-asws! From where does this come to you? ’ She said: ‘It is from Allah. Surely Allah Gives to whom He so Desires to without measure’ [3: 37]. Rasool-Allah-saww said: ‘Shall I-saww narrate to you-asws an example of you-asws and an example of her-asws? ’ He-asws said: ‘Yes’. He-saww said: ‘An example of you-asws is an example of Zakariya-as when he-as entered to see Maryam-as in the prayer niche, he found food in her presence. He said: ‘O Maryam! From where does this come to you? ’ She said: ‘It is from Allah. Surely Allah Gives to whom He so Desires to without measure’ [3: 37]’. They ate for a month from it, and it is the pot from which Al-Qaim-asws shall be eating, and it is in our-asws possession’’. [89]
