الْهِدَايَةُ، لَا يُفْسِدُ الْمَاءَ إِلَّا مَا كَانَتْ لَهُ نَفْسٌ سَائِلَةٌ وَ إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ كُرّاً لَمْ يُنَجِّسْهُ شَيْءٌ وَ الْكُرُّ ثَلَاثَةُ أَشْبَارِ طُولٍ فِي عَرْضِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَشْبَارٍ فِي عُمْقِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَشْبَارٍ
وَ إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْبَادِيَةِ سَأَلُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ حِيَاضَنَا هَذِهِ تَرِدُهَا السِّبَاعُ وَ الْكِلَابُ وَ الْبَهَائِمُ
فَقَالَ ص لَهَا مَا أَخَذَتْ أَفْوَاهُهَا وَ لَكُمْ سَائِرُ ذَلِكَ. باب 4 حكم البئر و ما يقع فيها
(The book) ‘Al Hidaya’ –
‘It does not spoil the water except what does not flow by itself; and when the water is Kur (three palms cubed), nothing dirties it, and the Kur is three palms in length, by three palms in width, and three palms in depth. The people of the valleys (Bedouins) asked Rasool-Allah-saww. They said, ‘O Rasool-Allah-saww! These watering places of ours are frequented by the lions, and the dogs, and the beasts! ’
He-saww said: ‘For these is what their mouths take, and for you is rest of that’’. [38]
