أَقُولُ وَ رَأَيْتُ فِي بَعْضِ مُؤَلَّفَاتِ أَصْحَابِنَا نَقْلًا مِنْ كِتَابِ رَوْضَةِ النَّفْسِ فِي الْعِبَادَاتِ الْخَمْسِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: فَصْلٌ فِي الِاسْتِخَارَاتِ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَ قَدْ وَرَدَ فِي الْعَمَلِ بِهَا وُجُوهٌ مُخْتَلِفَةٌ مِنْ أَحْسَنِهَا أَنْ تَغْتَسِلَ ثُمَّ تُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَقْرَأُ فِيهِمَا مَا أَحْبَبْتَ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ مِنْهُمَا قُلْتَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَ أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِزَّتِكَ وَ أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَ لَا أَقْدِرُ وَ تَعْلَمُ وَ لَا أَعْلَمُ وَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ الَّذِي أُرِيدُهُ خَيْراً فِي دِينِي وَ دُنْيَايَ وَ آخِرَتِي وَ خَيْراً لِي فِيمَا يَنْبَغِي فِيهِ خَيْرٌ وَ أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِعَوَاقِبِهِ مِنِّي فَيَسِّرْهُ لِي وَ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَ أَعِنِّي عَلَيْهِ
وَ إِنْ كَانَ شَرّاً لِي فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَ قَيِّضْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ وَ أَرْضِنِي بِهِ حَتَّى لَا أُحِبَّ تَعْجِيلَ مَا أَخَّرْتَ وَ لَا تَأْخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ.
I (Majlisi) am saying, ‘And I saw in one of the compilation of our companions, copying from the book ‘Rowzat Al Nafs’, regarding the five worships. ‘He said detailing regarding the Istikhara(s), the said, ‘And it has been referred regarding the acts of worship with its different aspects. From its most excellent is that you should bathe, then pray two Cycles Salat reciting in these whatever you like. When you are free from it, say, ‘O Allah-azwj! I seek Your-azwj Choice by Your-azwj Knowledge, and I seek Your-azwj Choice by Your‑azwj Might, and I seek Your-azwj Choice by Your-azwj Determination! And I ask You-azwj from Your-azwj Mighty Grace, for You-azwj are Able and I am not able, and You‑azwj Know and I don’t know, and You-azwj are Knower of the unseen! If this matter which I intend was good regarding my religion and my world and my Hereafter, and better for me regarding what is befitting being good for me in it, and You-azwj are more Knowing of its outcome than I am, Facilitate it for me, and Bless for me in it, and Assist me upon it! And if it was evil for me, Turn it away from me and Ordain the good for me wherever it may be, and Make me to be satisfied with it until I don’t love hastening of what You-azwj have Delayed, nor delaying of what You-azwj have Hastened! ’’[184]
