أَقُولُ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي الْحَدِيدِ فِي شَرْحِ النَّهْجِ فِي أَمَالِي ابْنِ دُرَيْدٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُرْمُوذِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُهَلَّبِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْكَلْبِيِّ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْفِهْرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَرَادَةَ قَالَ: قِيلَ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ
قَالَ مَا أَخْلُو مِنْ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَعْلَمُهَا فَأَسْتُرَ عِلْمَهَا وَ لَسْتُ أَشُكُّ أَنَّ اللَّهَ إِنَّمَا يَسْتُرُهَا عَنْكُمْ نَظَراً لَكُمْ لِأَنَّكُمْ لَوْ أَعْلَمَكُمُوهَا عَمِلْتُمْ فِيهَا وَ تَرَكْتُمْ غَيْرَهَا وَ أَرْجُو أَنْ لَا تُخْطِئَكُمْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ.
I (Majlisi) am saying, ‘Ibn Abu Al Hadeed said in commentary of ‘Nahj’ in ‘Amaali’ of Ibn Dureyd Al Jurmowzy, from Ibn Al Muhally, from Ibn Al Kalby, from Shaddah Bin Ibrahim, from Ubeydullah Bin Al-Hassan Al Fahdy, from Ibn Arada who said, ‘It was said to Amir Al-Momineen-asws, ‘Infor us about Laylat Al-Qadr! ’
He-asws said: ‘I-asws am not denying that I-asws might know it, but I-asws am concealing its knowledge, and I-asws am not doubting that Allah-azwj has rather Concealed it from you all as a Consideration for you, because had you all known it you would have worked during it and you would have neglected other (nights), and I-asws am hopeful that you will not be missing it, if Allah-azwj so Desires’’. [11]
