Hadith 39
Bihar al-Anwar · Allamah al-Majlisi
(The book) ‘Tafseer Al Ayyashi, from Al Kahily who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah-asws mentioning the Hajj. He-asws said: ‘Rasool-Allah-saww said: ‘It is one of the two Jihad(s). It is a Jihad of the weak and we are the weak ones. There isn’t anything more superior than the Hajj except the Salat (during Hajj), and over here is a Salat in the Hajj, and there isn’t Hajj in the Salat before you! Do not leave out the Hajj while you are able upon it! Don’t you see that in it your head becomes dishevelled, and your skin is exposed to hardship, and you are restrained from looking at women? Here we are, close by, with abundant and accessible water, yet we do not reach the Hajj without facing difficulties. How then is it for you in distant lands? And there is no king or commoner reaches the Hajj without hardship, whether it be due to changes in food or drink, wind or sun that one cannot avoid. This is in accordance with the saying of Allah-azwj: And they carry your loads to cities you could not reach except with difficulties of the self. Surely your Lord is Kind, Merciful [16: 7]! ’’[38]
