Hadith 30
Bihar al-Anwar · Allamah al-Majlisi
Mercy these shrieks which have been for us-asws! O Allah-azwj! I-asws entrust You-azwj these souls and these bodies until You-azwj Saturate them from the Fountain on the day of thirst! ’
He-asws, may the Salawaat of Allah-azwj be upon him-asws, did not cease to supplicated this supplication while he-asws was in Sajdah. When he-asws finished, I said to him-asws, ‘May I be sacrificed for you-asws! This which I have heard from you-asws would be for the one who does not recognise Allah-azwj who thinks that the Hellfire will not touch anything from him! By Allah-azwj! I wish, I have visited him-asws and had not performed Hajj! ’
He-asws said to me: ‘How near you are from him-asws! So, what is that which prevents you from visiting him-asws? O Muawiya! Do not leave that! ’
I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you-asws! I don’t known the matter reached this extent, all of it! ’
He-asws said: ‘O Muawiya, and ones in the sky who call to his-asws Ziyarah are more than the ones calling for it in the earth! Do not leave it out of fearing anyone. The one who neglects it out of fear will see from the regret what he will wish that his-asws grave be by his hands! Don’t you love for Allah-azwj to see your person and your shadow among the ones Rasool Allah-saww supplicates for? Don’t you love that tomorrow you will be from the ones the Angels with shake his hand? Don’t you love that tomorrow you will be among the ones who will come and there won’t be any sins upon him he would be pursued with? Don’t you love that tomorrow you will be among the ones greeted by Rasool Allah-saww? ’’[30]
Explanation – His-asws words: ‘he will wish that his-asws grave be by his hands’, may mean that he will wish he-asws had visited him-asws, fully certain of death, having dug his-asws grave with his own hands. Or it may be a metaphor for him wishing that his-asws visit had been the cause of his own death, or the meaning that he would wish that leaving the grave was in his control so he could emerge and visit. And the apparent that it is an error with him (reporter) just as I shall bring with chains of attribution, i. e. he would wish to have been killed for visiting-asws and buried near him-asws, or that the grave would be present before him so he could visit in that state. The first interpretation is the most evident.
