greeted. He said, ‘O Rasool-Allahsaww! A messenger came from yousaww calling us to, so we became Muslims. Then (called) to the Salat, and the Fasts, and the Jihad. We viewed it as good. Then yousaww Prohibited us from the adultery, and the theft, and the backbiting, and the evil, so we refrained. Yoursaww messenger said to us that we should love yoursaww son-in-law Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws. What is the secret regarding that, and we do not view it as (an act of) worship? ’
Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘For five characteristics. The first of it is that Isaww was seated on the day of Badr after we had battled, when Jibraeelas descended and said: ‘Allahazwj Coveys the greetings to yousaww and Says: “Today Iazwj Boasted to Myazwj Angles with Aliasws and heasws was roaming between the rows and saying: ‘Allahazwj is the Greatest! ’, and the Angels were exclaiming Takbeer along with himasws. By Allahazwj! Iazwj will not Inspire hisasws love except to the one Iazwj Love, nor will Iazwj Inspire hisasws hatred except to the one Iazwj Hate! ”
And the second, Isaww was seated on the day of Ohad and wesaww had battled and wesaww were free from preparing mysaww (martyred) uncle Hamzaasws, when Jibraeelas came to mesaww and said: ‘O Muhammad! Allahazwj Says: “Iazwj Obligated the Salat and Placed and Dropped in from the sick one, and Obligated the Fasts and Dropped if from the sick one and the traveller, and Obligated the Hajj, and Dropped it from the poor and the destitute, and Obligated the Zakat and Dropped it from the one who does not own the (adequate) share, and Made the love of Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws (an Obligation) not having any allowance in it. (And) the third, Allahazwj did not Send down a Book nor Created a creature except Heazwj Made a chief to be for him. The Quran is the chief of the Revealed Books, and Jibraeelas is chief of the Angels’ – or said: ‘Israfeelas, and Isaww am chief of the Prophetsas, and Aliasws is chief of the succesorsasws, and for every matter there is a chief, and mysaww love and love of Aliasws is chief of what the ones of proximity can draw near to their Lordazwj. The fourth is that Allahazwj Cast in mysaww soul that hisasws love is the tree of Tooba which Allahazwj the Exalted Planted it with Hisazwj Hands. The fifth is that Jibraeelas said: ‘When it will be the Day of Qiyamah, a pulpit would be set up for yousaww on the right of the Throne, and the Prophetsas, all of themas would be on the left of the Throne, and in front of it, and a chair would be set up to yoursaww side in honour for himasws’. So, from these specialities of hisasws, it Obligates upon you all that you love himasws’. The Bedouin said, ‘I hear and obey’’. [236]
