و عن عمرو بن شمر عن جابر عن تميم بن حذيم قال لما أصبحنا من ليلة الهرير نظرنا فإذا أشباه الرايات أمام أهل الشام في وسط الفيلق حيال موقف علي ع و معاوية فلما أسفرنا إذا هي المصاحف قد ربطت في أطراف الرماح و هي عظام مصاحف العسكر و قد شدوا ثلاثة رماح جميعا و ربطوا عليها مصحف المسجد الأعظم يمسكه عشرة رهط.
And from Amro Bin Shimr, from Jabir, from Tameem Bin Hazam who said, ‘When we came to the morning from ‘Laylat Al-Hareer’, we looked around and there were resemblances of the flags in front of the people of Syria, in the middle of the legion, parallel to the position of Ali-asws and Muawiya. When we went nearer, we realised these were Parchments (Qurans) having been tied in the sides of the spears, and these were Parchments of the military, and they had tied three spears together, tying upon these Parchments of the great Masjid. A group of ten was holding it’’. [55]
