Bihar al-Anwar · Allamah al-Majlisi
donkey I urge it to you, or I-asws usher it and you urge it to me-asws’. He (the narrator) said, ‘I said, ‘But, I shall usher it and I am strong enough upon urging it, and you-asws go ahead in front of it, O Amir Al-Momineen-asws, to Al-Rahba’. He-asws said: ‘O Jew! Upon you is a remainder of the night, so protect your donkey until morning, and you sit with it or I-asws sit with it and you protect’. I said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! I am strong enough upon sitting with it, and you-asws upon protecting it until the dawn emerges’. Amir Al-Momineen-asws said: ‘Leave me-asws and it, and you sleep until the dawn emerges’. So, when the dawn emerged, I woke up. He-asws said: ‘Arise, the dawn has emerged, and protect your donkey and there should be no problem upon you, and do not be heedless from it until I-asws come back to you, if Allah-azwj Exalted so Desires’. Then Amir Al-Momineen-asws went and prayed Salat with the morning Salat with the people. When the sun emerged, he-asws came to me and said: ‘Open your wheat upon the Blessings of Allah-azwj the Exalted and price your foodstuff’. I did not. Then he-asws said: ‘Choose from me-asws, a characteristic from two characteristics. Either I-asws sell and you be sufficed of the price, or you sell and I-asws shall suffice the price for you’. I said, ‘But, I shall sell and you-asws suffice the price’. He-asws said: ‘Do so! ’
When I was free from my sale, he-asws submitted the price to me and said to me: ‘Is there a need for you? ’ I said, ‘Yes, I want to enter the market in buying needed things’. He-asws said: ‘Let us go until I-asws assist you, for you are in my-asws responsibility’. He-asws did not cease to be with me until I was free from my (buying) needs, then he-asws bade me farewell. I said at that, ‘I testify that there is no god except Allah-azwj Alone, there is no associate for him, and that Muhammad is His-azwj servant and His-azwj Rasool-saww, and I testify that you-asws are the most learned of this community and caliph of Rasool-Allah-azwj upon the Jinn and the humans. So, may Allah-azwj Recompense you-asws a goodly Recompense on behalf of ’. Then I went to my estate and stayed at it for months, and approximate to that. Then, I yearned to see him-asws, so I arrived (at Al-Kufa) and asked about him-asws. It was said, ‘Amir Al-Momineen-asws has been killed’. I said, ‘We are from Allah-azwj and are returning to Him-azwj’, and I prayed a lot of Salat upon him-asws, and I said during my separation: ‘The knowledge has gone’. And it was the first justice I had seen from him-asws in that night and the last justice I had seen from him-asws in that day. So, why should I not cry, and this was from his-asws evidence? ’’[71]
