I was astounded from what had been referred to me, and I said, ‘By Allah-azwj! I shall write to him-asws issues I am doubting in, and I shall test him-asws questions I had asked his-asws father-asws about’. I affirmed those questions in a parchment and came to his-asws door, and the questions were in my sleeve, and with me was a friend of mine, an adversary, not knowing the details of this matter. When I arrived at his door, I saw the Arabs and the leaders, and the army (soldiers) entering to see him-asws. So I sat down in a corner of his-asws house, and I said within myself, ‘When will I arrive to this one? ’ And I was thinking, and my sitting had been prolonged, and I thought of leaving when a servant came out browsing the faces, and he said, ‘Where is the son of the daughter of Ilyas? ’
I said, ‘Here I am! ’ He extracted a parchment from his sleeve and said, ‘These are the answers to your questions and its interpretation’. I opened it and in it were the very questions which were in my sleeve and their answers and their interpretation. I said, ‘I keep Allah-azwj and His-azwj Rasool-saww as witnessed upon myself that you-asws are a Divine Authority of Allah-azwj, and I seek Forgiveness of Allah-azwj and repent to Him-azwj! ’ And I stood up. My friend said, ‘Where are you hurrying to? ’ I said, ‘My need has been fulfilled at this time, and I shall be returning to meet him-asws after this’’. [178]
