Hadith 163
Bihar al-Anwar · Allamah al-Majlisi
And it is reported by Al Bursy in ‘Mashariq Al Anwaar’ –
‘A man from the Waqifites collected difficult questions in a scroll and said within himself, ‘If Al-Reza-asws knows its meaning, then he-asws is Master-asws of the command’. When he came to the door, he paused for the gathering to lighten. The servant came out to him and there was a parchment in his hand wherein were answers to his questions in the handwriting of the Imam-asws. The servant said to him, ‘Where is the scroll? ’ He brought it out. He said to him, ‘The Guardian-asws of Allah-azwj is saying to you: ‘These are the answers to what is in it, so take it and go! ’
He (the narrator) said, ‘And it is reported that he-asws said one day in his-asws gathering: ‘There is no god except Allah-azwj! So and so has died’. He-asws was patient for a while and said: ‘There is no god except Allah-azwj! He has been washed, and shrouded, and carried to his grave’. Then he-asws was patient for a while and said: ‘There is no god except Allah-azwj. He has been placed in his grave and asked about his Lord-azwj. So he answered. Then he was asked about his Prophet-saww, so he acknowledged. Then he was asked about his Imam-asws. He counted them until he stopped with me-asws! So, what is the matter he stopped? ’ – and the man was a Waqifite. And he (the narrator) said, ‘When Al-Reza-asws arrived from Khurasan, the Shias headed to him-asws from the outskirts, and Ali Bin Asbaat had come to him-asws with gifts and presents. The caravan had been seized and his wealth and his gifts had been seized (by bandits), and he was hit upon his mouth and his front teeth had been broken. So he returned to his town over there. He slept and saw Al-Reza-asws in his sleep and he-asws said: ‘Do not grieve! These gifts of yours and your wealth have arrived to us. And as for your worries with your teeth, so take from the powdered (herb) ‘Al-Su’di’ and stuff with it in your mouth’. He (the narrator) said, ‘He woke up joyful and took from the herb and stuffed his mouth with it, and Allah-azwj Returned his teeth to him. When he arrived to Al-Reza-asws and entered to see him-asws, he-asws said: ‘You have found what we-asws had said to you regarding the herb as being true. Enter this vault and look! ’ He entered and there was his wealth and his gifts, all of them being upon its accuracy’’. [180]
