ما، الأمالي للشيخ الطوسي جَمَاعَةٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُفَضَّلِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ هَاشِمِ بْنِ الْبَرِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ عَنْ هَاشِمِ بْنِ مُسَاحِقٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ يَوْمَ الْجَمَلِ وَ أَنَّ النَّاسَ لَمَّا انْهَزَمُوا اجْتَمَعَ هُوَ وَ نَفَرٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فِيهِمْ مَرْوَانُ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ وَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ ظَلَمْنَا هَذَا الرَّجُلَ وَ نَكَثْنَا بَيْعَتَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِ حَدَثٍ كَانَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ لَقَدْ ظَهَرَ عَلَيْنَا فَمَا رَأَيْنَا رَجُلًا قَطُّ كَانَ أَكْرَمَ سِيرَةً وَ لَا أَحْسَنَ عَفْواً بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص مِنْهُ فَتَعَالَوْا فَلْنَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهِ وَ لْنَعْتَذِرْ مِمَّا صَنَعْنَا
قَالَ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ مُتَكَلِّمُنَا يَتَكَلَّمُ قَالَ أَنْصِتُوا أَكْفِكُمْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنْ قُلْتُ حَقّاً فَصَدِّقُونِي وَ إِنْ قُلْتُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ فَرُدُّوهُ عَلَيَّ
ثُمَّ قَالَ أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ أَ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص قُبِضَ وَ أَنَا أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَ بِالنَّاسِ قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ
قَالَ فَبَايَعْتُمْ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَ عَدَلْتُمْ عَنِّي فَبَايَعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَمَا بَايَعْتُمُوهُ وَ كَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَصَا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ أَنْ أُفَرِّقَ بَيْنَ جَمَاعَتِهِمْ ثُمَّ إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ جَعَلَهَا لِعُمَرَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَ أَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ بِالنَّاسِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ فَبَايَعْتُ عُمَرَ كَمَا بَايَعْتُمُوهُ فَوَفَيْتُ لَهُ بِبَيْعَتِهِ وَ أَرِدَنَّهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ
حَتَّى لَمَّا قُتِلَ جَعَلَنِي سَادِسَ سِتَّةٍ فَدَخَلْتُ فِيمَا أَدْخَلَنِي وَ كَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُفَرِّقَ جَمَاعَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ أَشُقَّ عَصَاهُمْ فَبَايَعْتُمْ عُثْمَانَ فَبَايَعْتُهُ ثُمَّ طَعَنْتُمْ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ فَقَتَلْتُمُوهُ وَ أَنَا جَالِسٌ فِي بَيْتِي
ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُمُونِي غَيْرَ دَاعٍ لَكُمْ وَ لَا مُسْتَكْرِهٍ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ فَبَايَعْتُمُونِي كَمَا بَايَعْتُمْ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَ عُمَرَ وَ عُثْمَانَ فَمَا جَعَلَكُمْ أَحَقَّ أَنْ تَفُوا لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَ عُمَرَ وَ عُثْمَانَ بِبَيْعَتِهِمْ مِنْكُمْ بِبَيْعَتِي
قَالُوا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كُنْ كَمَا قَالَ الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ لا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَ هُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ع كَذَلِكَ أَقُولُ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَ هُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ مَعَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ رَجُلًا لَوْ بَايَعَنِي بِيَدِهِ لَنَكَثَ بِاسْتِهِ يَعْنِي مَرْوَانَ. باب 5 باب أحوال عائشة بعد الجمل
(The book) ‘Al-Amaali’ of Al-Tusi – A group, from Abu Al Mufazzal, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn Bin Hafs, from Abbad Bin Yaqoub, from Ali Bin Hashim Bin Al Bareed, from his father, from Abdullah Bin Mukhariq, from Hashim Bin Musahiq, from his father, ‘He attended the day of the camel, and when the people had been defeated, he and a number of Quraysh gathered, among them being Marwan. One of them said to the other, ‘By Allah-azwj! We have been unjust to this man (Ali-asws), and we broke his-asws allegiance without there being any innovation having happened from him-asws. Then he-asws has prevailed upon us, so we have not seen any man at all who was of a more honourable matter nor of better pardoning after Rasool-Allah-saww than him-asws. Come, let us go to him-asws and let us offer excuses from what we have done’. He said, ‘We entered to see him-asws. When we went on to speak, he-asws spoke saying: ‘Listen, I-asws shall suffice you. But rather, I-asws am a man from you all, so if I-asws were to say truth, then ratify me-asws, and if I-asws were to say other than that, they return it unto me-asws’. Then he-asws said: ‘I-asws adjure you all with Allah-azwj! Do you know that Rasool-Allah-saww passed away and I-asws was the foremost of the people with Rasool-Allah-saww and with the people? ’ They said, ‘O Allah-azwj, yes! ’
He-asws said: ‘You pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr and turned away from me-asws, so I-asws pledged to Abu Bakr just as you had pledge to him, and I-asws dislike to crack the stick of the Muslims and to cause divisions between your communities. Then Abu Bakr made it to Umar from after him, and you know I-asws was foremost of the people with Rasool-Allah-saww and with the people from after him-saww, but I-asws pledged to Umar just as you had pledged to him, and I-asws shall return him upon the water. Until when he was killed, he made me to be sixth of six. I-asws entered into what he had made me-asws to enter, and I-asws disliked to cause division in the community of Muslims and crack their stick. You pledged to Usman, so I-asws pledged to him. Then you accused upon Usman and killed him, and I-asws was seated in my-asws house. Then you pledged allegiances to me-asws without there being a call to you, nor anyone of you having been forced. You pledged to me just as you had pledged to Abu Bakr, and Umar, and Usman. So, what made you all more rightful to be loyal to Abu Bakr, and Umar, and Usman of their allegiances than you were with my-asws allegiance? ’
They said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! Be, as the righteous servant had said: ‘(There shall be) no reproach against you today. May Allah Forgive you, and He is the most Merciful of the merciful ones [12: 92]’. Ali-asws said: ‘Like that I-asws am saying: May Allah Forgive you your sins; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful’ [3: 31], along with that, among you there is a man, even if he were to pledge to me by his hand, he would break by his evening’ – meaning Marwan’’. [74]
