قَالَ نَصْرٌ وَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ شِمْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِ قَالَ: وَ اللَّهِ لَكَأَنِّي أَسْمَعُ عَلِيّاً ع يَوْمَ الْهَرِيرِ وَ ذَلِكَ بَعْدَ مَا طَحَنَتْ رَحَى مَذْحِجٍ فِيمَا بَيْنَهَا وَ بَيْنَ عَكٍّ وَ لَخْمٍ وَ جُذَامَ وَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ بِأَمْرٍ عَظِيمٍ تَشِيبُ مِنْهُ النَّوَاصِي حَتَّى اسْتَقَلَّتِ الشَّمْسُ
وَ قَامَ قَائِمُ الظَّهِيرَةِ وَ عَلِيٌّ ع يَقُولُ لِأَصْحَابِهِ حَتَّى مَتَى نُخَلِّي بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْحَيَّيْنِ قَدْ فَنِيَا [فَنِيَتَا] وَ أَنْتُمْ وُقُوفٌ تَنْظُرُونَ أَ مَا تَخَافُونَ مَقْتَ اللَّهِ
ثُمَّ انْفَتَلَ إِلَى الْقِبْلَةِ وَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ ثُمَّ نَادَى يَا اللَّهُ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا وَاحِدُ يَا صَمَدُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا إِلَهَ مُحَمَّدٍ إِلَيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ نُقِلَتِ الْأَقْدَامُ وَ أَفْضَتِ الْقُلُوبُ وَ رُفِعَتِ الْأَيْدِي وَ مُدَّتِ الْأَعْنَاقُ وَ شَخَصَتِ الْأَبْصَارُ وَ طُلِبَتِ الْحَوَائِجُ
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَشْكُو إِلَيْكَ غَيْبَةَ نَبِيِّنَا وَ كَثْرَةَ عَدُوِّنَا وَ تَشَتُّتَ أَهْوَائِنَا رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنا وَ بَيْنَ قَوْمِنا بِالْحَقِّ وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفاتِحِينَ سِيرُوا عَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ
ثُمَّ نَادَى لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَلِمَةُ التَّقْوَى فَلَا وَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ مُحَمَّداً بِالْحَقِّ نَبِيّاً مَا سَمِعْنَا بِرَئِيسِ قَوْمٍ مُنْذُ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضَ أَصَابَ بِيَدِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ وَاحِدٍ مَا أَصَابَ إِنَّهُ قَتَلَ فِيمَا ذَكَرَ الْعَادُّونَ زِيَادَةً عَلَى خَمْسِمِائَةٍ مِنْ أَعْلَامِ الْعَرَبِ يَخْرُجُ بِسَيْفِهِ مُنْحَنِياً فَيَقُولُ مَعْذِرَةً إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا
لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ مَرَّاتٍ أَنْ أَفْلِقَهُ وَ لَكِنْ يَحْجُزُنِي عَنْهُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص يَقُولُ كَثِيراً لَا سَيْفَ إِلَّا ذُو الْفَقَارِ وَ لَا فَتَى إِلَّا عَلِيٌّ وَ أَنَا أُقَاتِلُ بِهِ دُونَهُ ع
قَالَ فَكُنَّا نَأْخُذُهُ وَ نُقَوِّمُهُ ثُمَّ يَتَنَاوَلُهُ مِنْ أَيْدِينَا فَيَقْتَحِمُ بِهِ عَرْضَ الصَّفِّ فَلَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا لَيْثٌ بِأَشَدَّ نِكَايَةً مِنْهُ فِي عَدُوِّهِ.
Nasr said, ‘And it is narrated to us by Amro Bin Shimr, from Jabir Bin Umeyr Al Ansari who said, ‘By Allah-azwj! It is as if I am listening to Ali-asws on the day of ‘Al-Hareer’, after the mill had grounded (clans of) Mazhij regarding what was between it and Aak, and Lakham, and Juzam, and Al-Ash’areyn with a mighty matter, the forelocks had turned grey due to it, to the extent that the sun was eclipsed. And a commander stood at midday, and Ali-asws was saying to his-asws companions: ‘Until when will we vacate between these two tribes, and they have been annihilated, and you are pausing, awaiting. Are you not fearing Detestation of Allah-azwj? ’
Then he-asws turned towards the Qiblah and raised his-asws hands to Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic, then called out: ‘O Allah-azwj! O Beneficent! O One! O Last! O Allah-azwj! O God-azwj of Muhammad-saww! O Allah-azwj! The feet are transferring to You-azwj, the hearts are anticipating, and the hands are raised, and the necks are extended (In hope), and the sights are staring, and the needs are sought. O Allah-azwj! We are complaining to You-azwj of the absence of our Prophet-saww, and the abundance of our enemies, and the scattering of our views, ‘Our Lord! Decide between us and our people with the Truth, and You are the best of the deciders’’ [7: 89]. March, upon the Blessings of Allah-azwj! ’
Then he-asws called out: ‘There is no god except Allah-azwj, and Allah-azwj is the Greatest, are the words of piety! ’
He (the narrator) said, ‘So, no, by the One-azwj Who Sent Muhammad-saww with the truth as a Prophet-saww! We have not heard a chief of a people since Allah-azwj Created the skies and the earth, killing by his hand during one day what have been killed. Surely, there have been killed, among what the counters have mentioned, more than five hundred from the luminaries of the Arabs, coming out with his sword, bent, saying, ‘Excuse to Allah-azwj and to you from this’. I-asws have been concerned at times that I-asws should wrap it up, by what blocked me-asws from it is that I-asws heard Rasool-Allah-saww saying frequently: ‘There is no sword except Zulfiqar and there is no youth (Momin) except Ali-asws’, and I had been fighting besides him-asws’. He (the narrator) said, ‘We were taking it (Zulfiqar) and straightening it, then he-asws would take it from our hands and he-asws would break through with it the front rows. No, by Allah-azwj! There was no lion with more intense surpassing than him-asws among his-asws enemies’’. [54]
