شا: [وَ] مِنْ كَلَامِهِ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فِي هَذَا الْمَعْنَى، بَعْدَ حَمْدِ اللَّهِ وَ الثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْهِ: مَا أَظُنُّ هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمَ يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الشَّامِ إِلَّا ظَاهِرِينَ عَلَيْكُمْ. فَقَالُوا لَهُ: بِمَا ذَا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ؟
فَقَالَ: أَرَى أُمُورَهُمْ قَدْ عَلَتْ، وَ نِيرَانَكُمْ قَدْ خَبَتْ، وَ أَرَاهُمْ جِدِّينَ، وَ أَرَاكُمْ وَانِينَ، وَ أَرَاهُمْ مُجْتَمِعِينَ، وَ أَرَاكُمْ مُتَفَرِّقِينَ، وَ أَرَاهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِمْ مُطِيعِينَ، وَ أَرَاكُمْ لِي عَاصِينَ. أَمْ وَ اللَّهِ لَئِنْ ظَهَرُوا عَلَيْكُمْ لَتَجِدُنَّهُمْ أَرْبَابَ سَوْءٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي لَكُمْ. لَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَ قَدْ شَارَكُوكُمْ فِي بِلَادِكُمْ، وَ حَمَلُوا إِلَى بِلَادِهِمْ فَيْئَكُمْ. وَ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْكُمْ تَكِشُّونَ كَشِيشَ الضِّبَابِ، وَ لَا تَأْخُذُونَ حَقّاً وَ لَا تَمْنَعُونَ لِلَّهِ مِنْ حُرْمَةٍ. وَ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَقْتُلُونَ صَالِحِيكُمْ، وَ يُخِيفُونَ قُرَّاءَكُمْ، وَ يَحْرُمُونَكُمْ وَ يَحْجُبُونَكُمْ وَ يُدْنُونَ النَّاسَ دُونَكُمْ. فَلَوْ قَدْ رَأَيْتُمُ الْحِرْمَانَ وَ الْأَثَرَةَ وَ وَقْعَ السُّيُوفِ وَ نُزُولَ الْخَوْفِ، لَقَدْ نَدَمْتُمْ وَ حَسِرْتُمْ عَلَى تَفْرِيطِكُمْ فِي جِهَادِكُمْ، وَ تَذَاكَرْتُمْ مَا أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ الْخَفْضِ وَ الْعَافِيَةِ، حِينَ لَا يَنْفَعُكُمُ التَّذْكَارُ.
(The book) ‘Al Irshad’ –
‘And from a speech of his-asws in this meaning, after having praised Allah-azwj and extolled upon Him-azwj: ‘I-asws do not think these people, meaning the people of Syrian, except they will be prevailing upon you all’. They said to him-asws, ‘Due to what would that be so, O Amir Al-Momineen-asws? ’
He-asws said: ‘I-asws see their affairs to have gone higher and your fires to have been extinguished, and I-asws see them as serious and I-asws see you whining (humming), and I-asws see them as united and I-asws see you as divided, and I-asws see them as being obedient to their master and I-asws see you being disobedient to me-asws. By Allah-azwj! If they were to prevail upon you, you will find them to be evil lords to you all from after me-asws. It is as if I-asws am looking at them and they are engaging in your cities and carrying off your war booty to their cities, and it is as if I-asws am looking at you layering upon each other like the layering of the fog. Neither are you taking any rights nor are you defending for Allah-azwj any of His-azwj Sanctities. And it is as if I-asws am looking at them killing your righteous ones, and frightening your reciters, and depriving you and barring you, and drawing (other) people besides you. If only you could see the depriving, and the prejudices, and falling of the swords, and descent of the fear, you would regret and feel sorry upon your missing out in your Jihad, and you will remember what you are in today, from the abatement and the well-being, when the remembrance will not benefit you’’. [97]
