Hadith 78

(The book) ‘Al-Kharaij Wa Al-Jaraih’ – It is reported that Abu Al-Darda’a used to worship idols during the pre-Islamic period, and that Abdullah Bin Rawaha and Muhammad Bin Muslims were both awaiting Abu Al-Darda’a being alone. He was absent, and they both entered his house and broke his idol. When he returned, he said to his wife, ‘Who did this? ’ She said, ‘I don’t know. I heard a sound and I came and they had already gone out’. Then she said, ‘If the idol could defend, it would defend itself’. He said, ‘Give me my garment’. He wore it. The Prophet-saww said: ‘This is Abu Al-Darda’a coming and he has become a Muslim’. And there he was, coming, and he became a Muslim’’. [80]
