ِمُكَ عَلَيَّ
فَخَشِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص قَوْمَهُ وَ أَهْلَ النِّفَاقِ وَ الشِّقَاقِ أَنْ يَتَفَرَّقُوا وَ يَرْجِعُوا إِلَى جَاهِلِيَّةٍ لِمَا عَرَفَ مِنْ عَدَاوَتِهِمْ وَ لِمَا تَنْطَوِي عَلَيْهِ أَنْفُسُهُمْ لِعَلِيٍّ ع مِنَ الْعَدَاوَةِ وَ الْبَغْضَاءِ وَ سَأَلَ جَبْرَئِيلَ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ رَبَّهُ الْعِصْمَةَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَ انْتَظَرَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع بِالْعِصْمَةِ مِنَ النَّاسِ مِنَ اللَّهِ جَلَّ اسْمُهُ
فَأَخَّرَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى أَنْ بَلَغَ مَسْجِدَ الْخَيْفِ فَأَتَاهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع فِي مَسْجِدِ الْخَيْفِ فَأَمَرَهُ بِأَنْ يَعْهَدَ عَهْدَهُ وَ يُقِيمَ عَلِيّاً عَلَماً لِلنَّاسِ وَ لَمْ يَأْتِهِ بِالْعِصْمَةِ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِالَّذِي أَرَادَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ كُرَاعَ الْغَمِيمِ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَ الْمَدِينَةِ
فَأَتَاهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ فَأَمَرَهُ بِالَّذِي أَتَاهُ فِيهِ مِنْ قِبَلِ اللَّهِ وَ لَمْ يَأْتِهِ بِالْعِصْمَةِ فَقَالَ يَا جَبْرَئِيلُ إِنِّي أَخْشَى قَوْمِي أَنْ يُكَذِّبُونِي وَ لَا يَقْبَلُوا قَوْلِي فِي عَلِيٍّ فَرَحَلَ
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ غَدِيرَ خُمٍّ قَبْلَ الْجُحْفَةِ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَمْيَالٍ أَتَاهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ عَلَى خَمْسِ سَاعَاتٍ مَضَتْ مِنَ النَّهَارِ بِالزَّجْرِ وَ الِانْتِهَارِ وَ الْعِصْمَةِ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يُقْرِئُكَ السَّلَامَ وَ يَقُولُ لَكَ يا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ ما أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ فِي عَلِيٍ وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَما بَلَّغْتَ رِسالَتَهُ وَ اللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ
وَ كَانَ أَوَائِلُهُمْ قَرِيباً مِنَ الْجُحْفَةِ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَرُدَّ مَنْ تَقَدَّمَ مِنْهُمْ وَ يَحْبِسَ مَنْ تَأَخَّرَ عَنْهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَكَانِ لِيُقِيمَ عَلِيّاً عَلَماً لِلنَّاسِ وَ يُبَلِّغَهُمْ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِي عَلِيٍّ ع وَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ قَدْ عَصَمَهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ
فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص عِنْدَ مَا جَاءَتِ الْعِصْمَةُ مُنَادِياً يُنَادِي فِي النَّاسِ بِالصَّلَاةِ جَامِعَةً وَ يَرُدُّ مَنْ تَقَدَّمَ مِنْهُمْ وَ يَحْبِسُ مَنْ تَأَخَّرَ عَنْهُمْ وَ تَنَحَّى عَنْ يَمِينِ الطَّرِيقِ إِلَى جَنْبِ مَسْجِدِ الْغَدِيرِ أَمَرَهُ بِذَلِكَ جَبْرَئِيلُ عَنِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ اسْمُهُ وَ فِي الْمَوْضِعِ سَلَمَاتٌ
فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَنْ يُقَمَّ مَا تَحْتَهُنَّ وَ يُنْصَبَ لَهُ أَحْجَارٌ كَهَيْئَةِ الْمِنْبَرِ لِيُشْرِفَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَتَرَاجَعَ النَّاسُ وَ احْتُبِسَ أَوَاخِرُهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَكَانِ لَا يَزَالُونَ
فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَوْقَ تِلْكَ الْأَحْجَارِ ثُمَّ حَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ: فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَلَا فِي تَوَحُّدِهِ وَ دَنَا فِي تَفَرُّدِهِ وَ جَلَّ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَ عَظُمَ فِي أَرْكَانِهِ وَ أَحاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْماً وَ هُوَ فِي مَكَانِهِ وَ قَهَرَ جَ
eparate and return to the pre-Islamic ignorance due to what he-saww had recognise of their enmity, and due to what their selves had folded against Ali-asws, from the enmity and the hatred, and he-saww asked Jibraeel-as to ask his-saww Lord-azwj for the Protection from the people, and he-saww waited for Jibraeel-as to come to him-saww with the Protection from the people, from Allah-azwj, Majestic is His-azwj Name. That was delayed until he-saww reached Masjid Al-Khief. Jibraeel-as came to him-saww in Masjid Al-Khief and instructed him-saww to make his-saww pact and establish Ali-asws as a flag for the people, but did not come to him-saww with the Protection from Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic, that which he-saww wanted, until he-saww reached Kura’a Al-Ghameem, between Makkah and Al-Medina. Jibraeel-as came to him-saww with that which he-as came he-as came to him-saww with from the Direction of Allah-azwj, but did not come to him-saww with the Protection. He-saww said: ‘O Jibraeel-as! I-saww am fearing my-saww people that they would belie me-saww (and) will not accept my-saww words regarding Ali-asws’. He-as departed. When he-saww reached Ghadeer Khumm, before Al-Johfa by three miles, Jibraeel-as came to him-saww at five hours past from the day, with the rebuke and the disavowal, and the Protection from the people. He-as said: ‘O Muhammad-saww! Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic Conveys the Greetings to you-saww and Says: O you Rasool! Deliver what has been Revealed unto you from your Lord – regarding Ali; and if you don’t do so, then you have not delivered His Message, and Allah will Protect you from the people [5: 67]. And their first ones were already near from Al-Johfa, so he-saww ordered the return of the ones from them who were ahead and withheld the ones from them who had delayed behind to be in that place, in order to establish Ali-asws as a flag for the people, and deliver to them what Allah-azwj had Revealed regarding Ali-asws, and (Jibraeel-as) informed him-saww that Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic had Protected him-saww from the people. Rasool-Allah-saww, at the coming of the Protection, instructed a caller to call out among the people with the congregational Salat, and returned the ones from them who had gone ahead, and withhold the ones from them who had delayed behind, and he-saww isolated to the side of Masjid Al-Ghadeer. Jibraeel-as has instructed him-saww with that on behalf of Allah-azwj, Mighty is His-azwj Name, and in the safe place. Rasool-Allah-saww instructed for the sweeping of whatever (thorns and leaves) there were beneath these (trees), and stones were set up for him-saww as if like the pulpit, so he-saww could overlook upon the people. The people (ahead) returned, and their delayed ones withheld in that place, not moving. Rasool-Allah-saww stood above those stones, then praised Allah-azwj and extolled upon Him-azwj. He-saww said: ‘The Praise is for Allah-azwj Who is Lofty in His-azwj Oneness, and Near in His-azwj Individual-ness, and Majestic in His-azwj Authority, and Mighty is His-azwj Pillars, and His-azwj Knowledge encompasses all things, and He-azwj is in His-azwj Place, and He-azwj Subdues entirety of the creatures by His-azwj Power and His-azwj Proof.
