سر: مِنْ كِتَابِ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ قُولَوَيْهِ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَاشِمِيِّ، قَالَ: خَطَبَ النَّاسَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ- وَ ذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِيَوْمَيْنِ-، فَقَالَ: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ! لَا تُغَالُوا بِصَدُقَاتِ النِّسَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ الْفَضْلُ فِيهَا لَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ يَفْعَلُ، كَانَ نَبِيُّكُمْ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يُصْدِقُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ الْمَحْشُوَّةَ وَ فِرَاشَ اللِّيفِ وَ الْخَاتَمَ وَ الْقَدَحَ وَ مَا أَشْبَهَهَا،
ثُمَّ نَزَلَ عَنِ الْمِنْبَرِ، وَ مَا أَقَامَ يَوْمَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةً حَتَّى أَرْسَلَ صَدَاقَ بِنْتِ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفاً.
(The book) ‘Mustatarfat Al Saraair’ – From the book of Abu Al Qasim Bin Qawlawiyah, from Isa Bin Abdullah Al Hashimy who said, ‘Umar Bin Al-Khattab addressed the people, and that was before he married Umm Kulsoom by two days. He said, ‘O you people! Do not inflate the dowries of the women. If there was any superiority in it, Rasool-Allah-saww would have done so. Your Prophet-saww used to dower the woman from his-saww wives (with), the stuffing, and the fibre of a bedspread, and the ring, and the cup, and what resembles these’. Then he descended from the pulpit, and did not stay two days or three until he sent the dower for the (step) daughter of Ali-asws, with forty thousand’’. [96] (This is not a Hadith)
