وَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ: أَتَى سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ صُرَدَ عَلِيّاً أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع بَعْدَ كِتَابِ الصَّحِيفَةِ وَ وَجْهُهُ مَضْرُوبٌ بِالسَّيْفِ فَلَمَّا نَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ عَلِيٌّ ع قَالَ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضى نَحْبَهُ وَ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَ ما بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا وَ أَنْتَ مِمَّنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَ مِمَّنْ لَمْ يُبَدِّلْ
فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَمَا لَوْ وَجَدْتُ أَعْوَاناً مَا كَتَبْتُ هَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةَ أَبَداً أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ مَشَيْتُ فِي النَّاسِ لِيَعُودُوا إِلَى أَمْرِهِمُ الْأَوَّلِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُ أَحَداً عِنْدَهُ خَيْراً إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
وَ قَامَ مُحْرِزُ بْنُ حويشٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع أَ مَا إِلَى الرُّجُوعِ عَنْ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ سَبِيلٌ فَوَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَخَافُ أَنْ يُورِثَ ذُلًّا فَقَالَ ع أَ بَعْدَ أَنْ كَتَبْنَاهُ نَنْقُضُهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَا يَحِلُّ.
And from Umar Bin Sa’ad, by his chain, said, ‘Suleyman Bin Surad came to Ali-asws Amir Al-Momineen-asws after the writing of the agreement, and his faced had been struck with the sword. When Ali-asws looked at him, he-asws said: ‘So, from them is one who fulfilled his vow, and from them is one who awaits, and they did not change with any alteration [33: 23], and you are from the ones who await, and from the ones who did not change’. He said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! If I had found supporters, I would not have written this agreement, ever! But, by Allah-azwj! I have walked among the people in order to go back to their former affair, but I could not find anyone have any good with him, except a few’. And Muhriz Bin Huweysh stood up and said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! Is there no way to retract from this agreement? By Allah-azwj! I fear disgrace would be inherited’. He-asws said: ‘After we have written it and ratified it, this is not possible’’. [66]
