(The book) ‘Kashf Al Ghumma’, from the book ‘Kifayat Al Talib’ compiled by Muhammad Bin Yusuf Al Shafie, recited to him at Irbil. He said, ‘We are narrated to my Abdul Lateef Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Baqy, from Ahmad Bin Ahmad Al Haddad, from Al Hafiz Abu Nueym, from Abu Bakr Al Tahy, from Muhammad Bin Ali Bin Raheem, from Abbad Bin Saeed, from Muhammad Bin Usman Bin Abu Bahlour, from Salih Bin Abu Al Aswad, from Abu Al Mutahhar Al Razy, from Al Amsh Al Saqafy, from Sallam Al Jufy, from Abu Burdah who said, ‘Rasool-Allah-saww said: ‘Allah-azwj has Covenanted a Covenant to me-saww regarding Ali-asws. I-saww said: ‘O Lord-azwj! Explain it to me-saww’. He-azwj Said: “Listen! ” I-saww said: ‘I-asws am listening’. He-azwj Said: ‘Ali-asws is the flag of guidance, and Imam-asws of the friends, and Noor of the ones obeying Me-azwj, and he-asws is the word which I-azwj have Necessitated for the pious. One loving him-asws loves me-saww and one hating him-asws hates me-saww, so give him-asws the glad tidings with that’. Ali-asws came. He-saww gave him-asws glad tidings with that. He-asws said: ‘O Rasool-Allah-saww! I-asws am a servant of Allah-azwj and in His-azwj Grip. If He-azwj Punishes me-asws, it would be due to my-asws sins, and if He-azwj were to Complete that which He-azwj has Given me-asws glad tidings with, then Allah-azwj is Foremost with me-asws’. He-saww said: ‘I-saww said: ‘O Allah-azwj! Polish his-asws heart and Make it nourish the Eman! ’ Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic Said: ‘I-azwj have Done that with him-asws, then he-asws would be Raised to Me-azwj! He-asws is to be particularised with something from the afflictions, not one from your-saww companions! ” I-saww said: ‘O Lord-azwj! My-saww brother-asws and my-saww companion! ’ He-azwj Said: “This is a thing which has preceded that he-asws will be Tried and Tried with it! ”’[101]
Al Hafiz has extracted it in (the book) ‘Al Hilyah’, and from (the book) ‘Al Khuwarizmi’ – From Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas who said, ‘Rasool-Allah-saww said: ‘Even if the gardens were to be pens, and the oceans were ink, and the Jinn as enumerators, and the human beings as scribes, the merits of Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws would not be able to be counted’’. [102]
And from him, raising it to Ibn Abbas –
‘And a man had said to him, ‘Glory be to Allah-azwj! How much (abundant) are the virtues of Ali-asws and his-asws merits. I count these to be three thousand virtues’. Ibn Abbas said, ‘Or and didn’t you say that these are nearer to thirty thousand? ’’[103]
And by the chain, ‘From Al-Husayn-asws Bin Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws, from Ali-asws, from the Prophet-saww having said: ‘If I-saww were to narrate with what has been Revealed regarding Ali-asws, he-asws would not tread upon any place in the earth except his-asws dust would be taken to the water (to be blessed and
