Bihar al-Anwar · Allamah al-Majlisi
(The book) ‘Al Kharaij Wa Al Jaraih’ – It is reported from Jabir Bin Abdullah who said, ‘Rasool-Allah-saww stayed for days and had not eaten any food, until that was grievous upon him-saww. So, he-saww went around in the houses of his-saww wives, but did not attain anything with any of them. So, he-saww came to (Syeda) Fatima-asws. He-saww said: ‘O daughter-asws! Is there anything with you-asws I-saww can eat, for I-saww am hungry? ’ She-asws said: ‘No, by Allah-azwj! By my-asws soul, and my-asws brother-asws! ’
When he-saww went out from her-asws, she-asws send a maid of her-asws for two loaves of bread and some meat. She-asws took it and placed it beneath a pot and covered upon it and said, ‘By Allah-azwj! I-asws will prefer Rasool-Allah-saww with it over myself-asws and others’ – and they-asws were (themselves) needy to eat the food. She-asws sent Hassan-asws or Husayn-asws to Rasool-Allah-saww, so he-saww returned to her-asws. She-asws said: ‘Allah-azwj has Brought us-asws something, so I-asws have hidden it for you-saww’. He-saww said: ‘Bring it to me-saww, O daughter-asws’. She-asws uncovered the pot, and there it was, full of bread and meat. When she-asws looked at it, she-asws was amazed and realised that it was from the Presence of Allah-azwj, so she-asws praised Allah-azwj, and sent Salawaat upon His-azwj Prophet-saww, and she-asws forwarded it to him-saww. When he-saww saw it, he-saww praised Allah-azwj and said: ‘Where has this come to you-asws from? ’ She said: ‘It is from Allah. Surely Allah Gives to whom He so Desires to without measure’ [3: 37]. Rasool-Allah-azwj sent a message to Ali-asws and called him-asws, and presented him-asws, and Rasool-Allah-saww, and Ali-asws, and Fatima-asws, and Al-Hassan-asws, and Al-Husayn-asws, and entirety of the wives of the Prophet-saww ate until they were (all) satiated. (Syeda) Fatima-asws said: ‘And the pot remained like what it was, so I-asws distributed to entirety of my-asws neighbours from it. Allah-azwj Made the Blessings and a lot of good to be in it’’. [80]
