يَّ فَبَارِزْنِي وَ لَا يُقْتَلَنَّ النَّاسُ فِيمَا بَيْنَنَا
فَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ اغْتَنِمْهُ مُنْتَهِزاً قَدْ قَتَلَ ثَلَاثَةً مِنْ أَبْطَالِ الْعَرَبِ وَ إِنِّي أَطْمَعُ أَنْ يُظْفِرَكَ اللَّهُ بِهِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ وَ اللَّهِ لَنْ تُرِيدَ إِلَّا أَنْ أُقْتَلَ فَتُصِيبَ الْخِلَافَةَ بَعْدِي اذْهَبْ إِلَيْكَ فَلَيْسَ مِثْلِي يُخْدَعُ
قَالَ نَصْرٌ وَ خَطَبَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَ قَالَ بَعْدَ الْحَمْدِ وَ الثَّنَاءِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ بِالتَّوْحِيدِ وَ الرِّسَالَةِ وَ قَدْ سَاقَنَا قَدَرُ اللَّهِ إِلَى مَا تَرَوْنَ حَتَّى كَانَ مِمَّا اضْطَرَبَ مِنْ حَبْلِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ وَ انْتَشَرَ مِنْ أَمْرِهَا أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَجَدَ مِنْ طَغَامِ النَّاسِ أَعْوَاناً عَلَى ابْنِ عَمِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ صِهْرِهِ وَ أَوَّلِ ذَكَرٍ صَلَّى مَعَهُ بَدْرِيٍّ
قَدْ شَهِدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص كُلَّ مَشَاهِدِهِ الَّتِي مِنْهَا الْفَضْلُ وَ مُعَاوِيَةُ مُشْرِكٌ يَعْبُدُ الْأَصْنَامَ وَ الَّذِي مَلَكَ الْمُلْكَ وَحْدَهُ وَ بَانَ بِهِ وَ كَانَ أَهْلَهُ لَقَدْ قَاتَلَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ هُوَ يَقُولُ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ وَ مُعَاوِيَةُ يَقُولُ كَذَبَ اللَّهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ
فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَ الْجِدِّ وَ الْحَزْمِ وَ الصَّبْرِ وَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَعَلَى حَقٍّ وَ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ لَعَلَى بَاطِلٍ فَلَا يَكُونَنَّ أَوْلَى بِالْجِدِّ عَلَى بَاطِلِهِمْ مِنْكُمْ فِي حَقِّكُمْ وَ إِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنْ سَيُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ أَوْ بِأَيْدِي غَيْرِكُمْ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنَّا وَ لَا تَخْذُلْنَا وَ انْصُرْنَا عَلَى عَدُوِّنَا وَ لَا تَخْلُ عَنَّا وَ افْتَحْ بَيْنَنا وَ بَيْنَ قَوْمِنا بِالْحَقِّ وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفاتِحِينَ.

Amro Bin Al-Aas said seizing the advantage, ‘Three from the heroes of Arabs have been killed and I wish that Allah-azwj will Cause you to triumph with it’. Muawiya said, ‘By Allah-azwj! You will never want except that I be killed, so you can attain the caliphate after me going to you. The likes of me will not be deceived’’. Nasr (the reporter) said, ‘And Abdullah Bin Al-Abbas addressed during this day and said after the praise and the extolling, and the testimony with the Tawheed, and the Messenger-ship, ‘And Allah-azwj has Ushered us to a extent of what you can see until it happened from what shook from the rope of this community and scattered from its affairs. Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan has found supporters from the tyrannical people against a son-asws of an uncle-as of Rasool-Allah-saww, and his-saww son-asws in law, and the first mentioned to have prayed Salat with him-saww, a participant of Badr. He-asws has attended with Rasool-Allah-saww, every battle from which is the merit, and Muawiya was a Polytheist worshipping the idols. By the One-azwj Who Owns the kingdom Alone, and Manages it! Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws has fought along with Rasool-Allah-saww and he-asws was saying, ‘Allah-azwj and His-azwj Rasool-saww spoke the truth’, while Muawiya was saying, ‘Allah-azwj and His-azwj Rasool-saww have lied’. Upon you all is to be with the fear of Allah-azwj, and the seriousness, and the determination, and the patience. By Allah-azwj! You are upon truth and the people are upon the falsehood, so they should not become first with the seriousness upon their falsehood than you are in your right, and we know that Allah-azwj will be Punishment by your hands, or by the hands of others. O Allah-azwj! Assist us and do not Forsake us, and Help us against our enemies, and do not Leave us alone, and ‘Our Lord! Decide between us and our people with the Truth, and You are the best of the deciders’’ [7: 89]’’. [30]
