Hadith 28

(The book) ‘Kashf Al Yaqeen’ – Muwaffaq Bin Muhammad Al Makky, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn Bin Ali, from Muhammad Bin Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz, from Hilar Bin Muhammad Bin Ja’far Bin Muhammad Bin Umar, from Muhammad Bin Haroun Al Hashimy, from Muhammad Bin Ziyad Al Nakhaie, from Muhammad Bin Fuzeyl Bin Gazwan, from Ghalib Al Juhny, ‘From Abu Ja’far Muhammad-asws Bin Ali-asws, from his-asws father-asws, from his-asws grandfather-asws having said: ‘Ali-asws said: ‘The Prophet-saww said: ‘When there was an ascension with me-saww to the sky, then from the sky to Sidrat Al-Muntaha, I-saww paused in front of my-saww Lord-azwj Mighty and Majestic. He-azwj Said to me-asws: “O Muhammad-saww! ” I-saww said: ‘At Your-azwj service and Your-azwj assistance! ’ He-azwj said: ‘You-saww have tested My-azwj creatures, so which of them did you-saww find to be most obedient to you-saww? ’ I-saww said: ‘Lord-azwj, Ali-asws! ’
He-azwj Said: “You-saww speak the truth, O Muhammad-saww! Have you-saww taken a caliph for yourself-saww, to officiate on your-saww behalf, and teach My-azwj servants what they are not knowing? ” I-saww said: ‘Choose for me-saww, for Your-azwj Choice is my-saww choice’. He-azwj Said: ‘I-azwj have Chosen Ali-asws for you-saww, so take him-asws as a caliph for yourself-saww, and a successor-asws, and I-azwj have Given him-asws My-azwj Knowledge and My-azwj Wisdom, and he-asws is Emir of the Momineen truly. No one has taken it before him-asws and it isn’t for anyone after him-asws. O Muhammad-saww! Ali-asws is the flag of guidance, and Imam-asws of the ones obeying Me-azwj, and Noor of My-azwj friends, and it is the Word which I-azwj have Necessitated for the pious. One who loves him-asws, so he has love Me-azwj, and one who hates him-asws, so he has hated Me-azwj. So, give him-asws the glad tidings of that, O Muhammad-saww! ”
The Prophet-saww said: ‘I-saww said: ‘My-saww Lord-azwj! I-saww have given him-asws the glad tidings’. Ali-asws said: ‘I-asws am a servant of Allah-azwj and in His-azwj Grip. If He-azwj Punishes me-asws it would be due to my-asws sins. He-azwj will not be unjust to me-asws of anything. And if He-azwj Completes my-asws promise for me-asws, so Allah-azwj is my-asws Master’. He-saww said: ‘I-saww said: ‘O Allah-azwj! Polish his-asws heart and Make the Eman to be nourished by it’. He-azwj Said: “I-azwj have Done that with him-asws, O Muhammad-saww, apart from that I-azwj have Specialised him-asws with something from the afflictions I-azwj have not Specialised anyone of My-azwj friends from it! ”
He-saww said: ‘I-saww said: ‘My-saww Lord-azwj! (He-asws is) my-saww brother-asws and my-saww companion! ’ He-azwj Said: “It has preceded in My-azwj Knowledge that he-asws will be Tried. Had it not been for Ali-asws, My-saww party would not be recognised, nor My-azwj friends, nor friends of My-azwj Rasool-saww! ”’[28]
