Hadith 18

(The book) ‘Al Kitab Al Ateeq’ of Al Gharwy – Abu Ali Bin Hammam, from Al-Hassan Bin Muhammad Bin Jamhour Al Ammy who said, ‘I saw in the year two hundred and ninety-six, and it is the year in which Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Musa Bin Al-Furaat was collared with the ministership of (the caliph) Al-Muqtadar, Ahmad Bin Rabie the scribe was afflicted with a wicked illness in his hand, and its matter became grievous to the extent that it decayed and blackened, and the physician Yazeed advised with amputating it, and no one doubted from what they saw, that it would kill him. He saw in his dream our master Amir Al-Momineen-asws, may the Salawaat of Allah-azwj be upon him-asws! He said to him-asws, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws! Can you-asws not bestow my hand to me? ’ He-asws said: ‘I-asws too busy for you, but go to Musa-asws Bin Ja’far-asws, he-asws will bestow it to you-asws! ’
In the morning, he said, ‘Bring me a carriage, make it comfortable for me, and carry me to the graves of the Qureysh! ’
They did so after washing him, perfuming him, and placing a cloth over him. They carried him to the grave of Musa-asws Bin Ja’far-asws. He clung to it, prayed Salat, took some of its soil, and rubbed it on his hand up to his shoulder, then bandaged it. When it was the next day, he unwrapped it and all the flesh and the skin, which was upon it had fallen off until there remained bones, and veins and intertwined nerves, and the odour had terminated, and its news reached the minister. He was carried to him until he looked at him. Then he was treated, so he returned to the registry and wrote with what had happened. Salih Al-Daylami said regarding it (a couplet), ‘And Musa-asws healed a hand of the scribe when he visited’. [26]
