4. My father and Muḥammad ibn Ya’qūb both narrated to me from ‘Ali ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Hāshim, from his father, from Yaḥyā ibn Zakariyyā, from Yazīd ibn ‘Umar ibn Ťalḥah, who said: When Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a. s. )) was in Ḥīrah, he asked me, “Do you not want that which I promised you? ” “Yes, ” I replied – he meant going to the grave of the Commander of the Believers (a. s. ). Then the Imam rode his sumpter. His son, Ismā’īl, and I accompanied him. We passed Thawiyyah and then stopped between Ḥīrah and Najaf next to some white-coloured gravel. Imam (a. s. ) and his son, Ismā’īl, descended their sumpters, so I descended my sumpter. We (all) prayed. Then Imam (a. s. ) said to Ismā’īl, “Stand and say Salām to your grandfather, Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a. s. ). ” So I asked, “May I sacrifice myself for you! Is Ḥusain (a. s. ) not in Karbalā? ” Imam (a. s. ) replied, “Yes. However, when his head was being carried to Shām, one of our servants stole it and buried it next to the Commander of the Believers (a. s. ). ”
