وَ ذَهَبَ الرَّسُولُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا قَالَ لَهُ فَقَالَ اذْهَبْ فَقُلْ لَهُ أَجِبْ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَأَتَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا قَالَ
فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ع سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مَا وَ اللَّهِ طَالَ الْعَهْدُ فَيَنْسَى وَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَيَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الِاسْمَ لَا يَصْلُحُ إِلَّا لِي وَ لَقَدْ أَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَ هُوَ سَابِعُ سَبْعَةٍ فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيَّ بِإِمْرَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
فَاسْتَفْهَمَ هُوَ وَ صَاحِبُهُ مِنْ بَيْنِ السَّبْعَةِ فَقَالا أَمْرٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَ رَسُولِهِ
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص نَعَمْ حَقّاً مِنَ اللَّهِ وَ رَسُولِهِ إِنَّهُ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ سَيِّدُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ صَاحِبُ لِوَاءِ الْغُرِّ الْمُحَجَّلِينَ يُقْعِدُهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ فَيُدْخِلُ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَ أَعْدَاءَهُ النَّارَ
فَانْطَلَقَ الرَّسُولُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا قَالَ فَسَكَتُوا عَنْهُ يَوْمَهُمْ ذَلِكَ
قَالَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ اللَّيْلُ حَمَلَ عَلِيٌّ ع فَاطِمَةَ ع عَلَى حِمَارٍ وَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِ ابْنَيْهِ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فَلَمْ يَدَعْ أَحَداً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص إِلَّا أَتَاهُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَنَاشَدَهُمُ اللَّهَ حَقَّهُ وَ دَعَاهُمْ إِلَى نُصْرَتِهِ فَمَا اسْتَجَابَ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ غَيْرُنَا أَرْبَعَةٌ
فَإِنَّا حَلَّقْنَا رُءُوسَنَا وَ بَذَلْنَا لَهُ نُصْرَتَنَا وَ كَانَ الزُّبَيْرُ أَشَدَّنَا بَصِيرَةً فِي نُصْرَتِهِ فَلَمَّا أَنْ رَأَى عَلِيٌّ ع خِذْلَانَ النَّاسِ إِيَّاهُ وَ تَرْكَهُمْ نُصْرَتَهُ وَ اجْتِمَاعَ كَلِمَتِهِمْ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَ تَعْظِيمَهُمْ إِيَّاهُ لَزِمَ بَيْتَهُ
فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تَبْعَثَ إِلَيْهِ فَيُبَايِعَ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا وَ قَدْ بَايَعَ غَيْرَهُ وَ غَيْرَ هَؤُلَاءِ الْأَرْبَعَةِ
وَ كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَرَقَّ الرَّجُلَيْنِ وَ أَرْفَقَهُمَا وَ أَدْهَاهُمَا وَ أَبْعَدَهُمَا غَوْراً وَ الْآخَرُ أَفَظَّهُمَا وَ أَغْلَظَهُمَا وَ أَجْفَاهُمَا
فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَنْ نُرْسِلُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ نُرْسِلُ إِلَيْهِ قُنْفُذاً فَهُوَ رَجُلٌ فَظٌّ غَلِيظٌ جَافٍ مِنَ الطُّلَقَاءِ أَحَدُ بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ
فَأَرْسَلَهُ وَ أَرْسَلَ مَعَهُ أَعْوَاناً وَ انْطَلَقَ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ ع فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُمْ فَرَجَعَ أَصْحَابُ قُنْفُذٍ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَ عُمَرَ وَ هُمَا جَالِسَانِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَ النَّاسُ حَوْلَهُمَا فَقَالُوا لَمْ يُؤْذَنْ لَنَا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ اذْهَبُوا فَإِنْ أَذِنَ لَكُمْ وَ إِلَّا فَادْخُلُوا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنٍ
فَانْطَلَقُوا فَاسْتَأْذَنُوا فَق
came to him-asws and informed him-asws with what he had said. Ali-asws said: ‘Glory be to Allah-azwj! By Allah-azwj, the time has not been long and he has forgotten. By Allah-azwj, he knows that this is the name not correct except for me-asws, and Rasool-Allah-saww had ordered him, and he was the seventh of the seven, and they had greeted unto me-asws as ‘Amir Al-Momineen’. Thus, he and his companion did understand, from between the seven, so they said, ‘Is it a Command from Allah-azwj and His-azwj Rasool-saww? ’
Rasool-Allah-saww said to them: ‘Yes, truly from Allah-azwj and His-azwj Rasool-saww. He-asws is ‘Amir Al-Momineen’, and chief of the Muslims, and owner of the flag of the resplendent. Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic would Make him-asws to be seated upon the Bridge, and he-asws would enter his-asws friends into the Paradise, and his-asws enemies into the Fire’. The messenger went and informed him with what he-asws had said. They were silent from him-asws on that day of theirs. He (Salman-ra) said, ‘When it was the night, Ali-asws carried (Syeda) Fatima-asws upon a donkey, and held the hands of his-asws two sons-asws, Al-Hassan-asws and Al-Husayn-asws. He-asws did not leave anyone from the companions of Rasool-Allah-saww except he-asws went to his house and adjured them with Allah-azwj of his-asws rights, and called them to help him-asws. But no man from them answered apart from us-ra four. So, we-ra shaved our-asws heads and we exerted our-asws help to him-asws, and Al-Zubeyr was the most intense of us of insight in our helping him-asws. When Ali-asws saw the abandonment of the people to him-asws, and their negligence in helping him-asws, and their gathering their words with Abu Bakr, and their revering him, he-asws stayed in his-asws house. Umar said to Abu Bakr, ‘What prevents you from dispatching (men) to him-asws, so he-asws pledge allegiance, for there does not remain anyone except and he has pledged allegiance apart from him-asws and those four’. And Abu Bakr was softer of the two men, and gentler of the two, and more benign of the two, and more thoughtful of the two; and the other one (Umar) was more shot-tempered of the two, and harsher of the two, and more treacherous of the two. Abu Bakr said to him, ‘Who shall we sent to him-asws? ’ Umar said, ‘We should send Qunfuz to him, for he is a rude, harsh man, from the freed ones of (battle of) Ohad of the clan of Uday Bin Ka’ab’. He sent him, and sent assistants with him, and he went and sought permission to see Ali-asws, but he-asws refused to give permission to them. The companions of Qunfuz returned to Abu bakr and Umar, and they were both seated in the Masjid, and the people were around them. They said, ‘He did not permit for us’. Umar said, ‘Go! Either he-asws permits for you or else entered without permission’. They went and sought permission. (Syeda) Fatima-asws said: ‘I-asws forbid you from entering into my-asws house without permission’.
